Lennon?

Am I crazy? Have pregnancy hormones gone wild? 38 weeks pregnant and suddenly absolutely in love with the name Lennon for a girl. DH thinks I've lost the plot but if she was born this minute, I'd be so tempted! We haven't agreed on a name yet which probably doesn't help. Please tell me if this is acceptable or not (I'm assuming not but I need to check on the off chance anyone likes it 😂). Also I'm foreseeing some Beatles comments, I like them but never been a big fan though DF loved them!

Hormones. Esp if you don't view John as a demi God.

Hillrunning · 27/08/2022 17:53

No, not OK. How about Leoni?

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/08/2022 17:56

It's the last name of a man. Just no. He wasn't a very nice man either.

capedavenger · 27/08/2022 17:58

I once had a class of ten children and two of them were called Lennon.
I've taught about four or five Lennon's in my career so it's not that unusual.
They were all boys though.

If you dislike the Beatles I think it would be mad to name your child Lennon. It would immediately make me think the parents were big Beatles fans. And she’ll hear comments about it every day. Maybe save it for a middle name.

Antarcticant · 27/08/2022 18:02

OK for a boy.

lavawater · 27/08/2022 18:03

Love it for a girl and know of one as well. It's only increasing in popularity for girls and I think it's lovely.

Pemba · 27/08/2022 18:04

It's a surname, mostly famously of John Lennon. And like the pp said, it's recently come to light that he wasn't the greatest human being, although obviously he created some outstanding music.

Why would you want this, especially for a girl? If it's the sound you like then something like Leonie or Leonora probably comes closest. Quite attractive actual girl's names.

timoteigirl · 27/08/2022 18:05

If you are a super fan, but thought more for a boy. What about Milena? Lumina? Lena?

FASDE1517 · 27/08/2022 18:17

I like it!

Dreamingof3 · 27/08/2022 18:19

How about Lennox?

J0y · 27/08/2022 18:22

for a girl, no.
Love Leona or Leonora though or 'Lennie'

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 27/08/2022 18:23

Lemon is cuter

Mindymomo · 27/08/2022 18:24

Our male cat was called Lennon after Aaron Lennon the footballer.

FourChimneys · 27/08/2022 18:28

I once taught a male Lennon. Absolute nightmare child and now in a young offenders institute. So it would put me off.

My general advice is to give boys boy's names and girls girl's names but perhaps I am old fashioned.

I hope your pregnancy goes well.

queenoffedup · 27/08/2022 18:35

I really appreciate all of your responses, it seems like it's a hormone thing 😂 I definitely don't want to saddle DD with a name that she'll hate or have negative connotations so will cross it off my list despite my sudden and unexplained infatuation with it!

Leoni is worse than Lennon.

I like Lennon as a boys name though

Roselilly36 · 27/08/2022 18:54

I really like Lennon as a male name choice.

trampoline123 · 27/08/2022 18:56

I really like it. I'm sure I suggested it to my BF and got a very firm no.

Luredbyapomegranate · 27/08/2022 18:57

Christ I was coming on to say no way for a boy, it’s as naff as Hendrix

For a girl it’s beyond words

Have a nice sit down and a cup of tea

You can’t go wrong with Elizabeth, especially in Jubilee year 👸

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/08/2022 18:57

Nice name I would assume or rather ask if you were a Beatles fan though. Not that that’s a bad thing, is it.

Mummytobe333 · 27/08/2022 18:57

I love Lennon for a boy , not sure on a girl though sorry.

Luredbyapomegranate · 27/08/2022 18:59

Leonora is nice, or Leonie

I knew a Selena nn Lennie

winewolfhowls · 27/08/2022 19:05

It's a spirited boys name around our neck of the woods, sorry

StopStartStop · 27/08/2022 19:09

Ailidh Lennon, formerly of a band called 'Sons and Daughters', seems, as far as one can tell, to be a woman. She's also very talented in a range of areas. You could call your dd Lennon and when people mentioned John, say 'No! Ailidh!" and let them google.
