Nick name for Eleftheria

This is a greek name I love but I am not keen on the nick names Ria, Ella, or Ellie. Can you think of any cute nick names?

I fear that Ellie, Ella, Ria, Ritsa are the usual nicknames for Eleftheria. How about "Thalia" as an alternative name though (stress in a) ? One of the 9 Muses with a sort of similar "vibe" to Eleftheria but obviously not the same meaning/connotations.

I see it as 'elephant' so Nellie for a nick name. Sorry.🤐

I’d just go for nn ‘one-sixteenth’ to reflect her Greek heritage. Or tenuous.

I think it's a lovely name op.

With all due respect, her nickname will be determined at school where she will end up with 'Elf on a Shelf', 'Nellie' or some pathogen related jibe.

Eleftheria = Modern Greek
Eleutheria = Ancient Greek

If you go for “Ria” though it’s really important to consider the middle name and last name to check it flows well.

Eleftheria is not a nice looking or sounding name, sorry OP..

OP lives in Greece so noone is going to call her Nellie the Elephant at school.

It means freedom, doesn’t it? Effie and Thea are the most Greek diminutives, I think. Rhea or Tia?

She will get called elephant at school.

It's worth bearing in mind that you can't control nicknames/shortened names for many years.

So you might still end up with her being Ria, Ella or Ellie.

So many streets with this name in Greece...

I'm not keen op and I'm a complete hellenophile.

There are so many other lovely Greek names.

I really like it (and think some of you are horrifyingly rude).
