I kind of do both, am in Scotland. Have met both and have a Rowan tree in garden that gets called forth. Lovely name - the trees have a mystical history that I like too.

I think it's mostly in Scotland that it's pronounced Row like 'now' most other places I've heard it it's Row-an as in row the boat
