I have several but I think Matthew and John deserve a revival.

No judgement, just curious. Which names do you think deserve more attention?

John, definitely, a good strong name.
I like Bruce- I think that’s due an airing.

I think Peter is totally charming, but I imagine Pete is off putting to modern parents. Jane has a real simple charm for girls names, I wouldn't be surprised if it starts picking upside momentum soon.

NannyR · 15/08/2022 20:23

I love the name John.I also love "middle age" names for girls such as Janet, Susan and Judith - nice classic sounding names with lots of nick name potential.

Devongurl · 15/08/2022 20:25

I think Marjorie is very pretty but only know a 90 year old named it.

Devongurl · 15/08/2022 20:27

Also Jeremy!

Sweettums · 15/08/2022 20:29

Lisa. it fits lots of the patterns for girls names that are very of the moment - 4 letters, vowelly, ending in A…not sure why it isn’t more popular.

John is such a great name too.

I have a few - not so much due a revival as I'm surprised they're not more popular given that similar names are, but perhaps some of these were SO popular at some point it will take longer than usual to seem fresh:

DS13 has a 'hipster' type name but wants to be called his middle name "John" and DS8's favourite name is Dave so I'm sure they'll all come back again.

After watching the Durrells I fell in love with the name Gerry/Jerry - it’s definitely due a revival.

girls name I’ve always liked Vivienne

Sherrystrull · 15/08/2022 21:01

John, definitely, a good strong name.
I like Bruce- I think that’s due an airing.

Heard Bruce getting called in the playpark. He was about 3 or 4yo.

Mycatsgoldtooth · 15/08/2022 21:04

Heard Brian being called in the park at the weekend. Wasn’t expecting to see a toddler.
I think Joe is underused. Such a good name.

JasmineIndigo · 15/08/2022 21:05

I really like Colin and Thora.

It's a great name. Heavily used as a middle name in my family, including my DS, and I know in a couple of cases it was a strong contender for first name too.

Caroline
Susannah

David. Peter. Jonathan. Mark paul. All good mid century favourites that suggest stability and security. Jason is such a great classical name that just got a bit tainted in the seventies. Douglas Stewart and Malcolm. Great Scottish names that have been out of fashion for a while.

Girls. My favourite Malory Towers names are all ready coming back. Daphne. Pamela. Peggy. Norah. Id like to see other forties and fifties sturdy no nonsense names back like Jill. Judy. Alison Janet

And Gladys. Such a pretty name and criminally ignored. Hi de hi to blame.

Riverlee · 15/08/2022 21:41

Pamela I feel is due a revival.

Holidaydreamingagain · 15/08/2022 22:12

Plenty of Amy Josie Natasha and Joseph’s around

Pricklesinperil · 15/08/2022 22:15

After finally watching ‘On her Majesty’s Secret Service’ - I think ‘Tracy’ - it’s a lovely name
