Hi! Do you think Hallie could be a suitable nickname for Ophelia? I think Hellie would work as 'hel' features in Ophelia, but would Hallie work?

Just use Hallie. I know 2 (both adult. One Hally ) neither are NN for anything

My Ophelia friend is Fee

I've heard Ophelia shortened to Fifi.

I would struggle to find Hallie in Ophelia.

My great-niece is Ophelia, and they call her Fee.

The emphasis in Ophelia is on the FEE, so Fee, Fifi or Feely are natural shortenings

We have an Ophelia in the family :) Her name is usually shortened to 'Phe' or 'Phe Phe'
Gorgeous name

What a pointless thread.

It’s a bit of a stretch - how about Henrietta nn Hallie (as Harriet comes from Henrietta originally)

Effie would be more likely for Ophelia

I'll start by saying my daughter is named Ophelia so I obviously absolutely love the name! It seems that you are a bit fixated on creating a nickname from the name rather than just using the proper name - before she is even born. Why not just call her Ophelia if you like the name and let the nickname happen organically? Our daughter is usually just known as Ophelia or sometimes 'O.' One of the ladies at her nursery used to call her Fee (which I wasn't keen on!) but you can't really control what other people are going to call her or contrive nicknames and insist people refer to her as that. I'd just call her Ophelia which in my opinion anyway is a beautiful name and see what nickname/s naturally come out of it!

Nicknames don’t have to be related to the legal name in my opinion. My niece has a nn that’s totally unrelated (due to her older brothers inability to pronounce her name correctly when young) and it stuck. If you like Ophelia nn Hallie/Hellie, go for it! Just know people outside the family may not use the family nn.

My daughter is Halima nn Hali, so I’m partial to that. For those saying Hellie is too close to Hell, I went to school with a Helen who had fun with that. She went by Hells or Hells Bells. Totally suited her.
