Which do you think? Is Chelsea too 80s/90s?

Adeline definitely. Chelsea is indeed very unfashionable now.

Adaline

Yes, Adeline is beautiful and timeless whereas Chelsea, although a nice name, is a bit dated.

Neither tbh.

Chelsea seems a bit 90s naff and Adeline is a stuffy name for a creepy Victorian doll. MN will give Adeline the thumbs up though.

Adeline, it's a lovely name and quite unusual.

Adeline, don't really like Chelsea.
But there are a few different pronunciations of Adeline

Adeline. Gorgeous 1920s name.
Chelsea is cute but it's also the (current) name of Barbie's youngest sister.

Adeline. (Would it be pronounced Ad-a-lynne or Ad-a-line?) really nice either way!

I was born early 90’s and know loads of Chelsea’s but can’t imagine it’s too popular now. Also a nice name!

Adeline, although I Adelaide best and Adela even better.

Chelsea is fucking appalling, like calling your child Chardonnay.

I think the traditional pronunciation is. Ad-ah-line because of a few songs I've heard but I do think some people pronounce it Ad-ah-lynn which is also pretty.

I say Add-ah-leen for Adaline, so that's another version.

Adeline, I think.

I actually Chelsea has a really pretty sound and I probably prefer it to Adeline. But it has 90s associations (not particularly positive ones either) and has become dated rather than a classic. Shame. I hope it returns.

Adaline!

Clairewentoverthemountain · 29/07/2022 03:50

(pronounced with the 'line' said the same way as Caroline)

TabithaTittlemouse · 29/07/2022 05:04

Definitely not Chelsea.

FayCarew · 29/07/2022 08:06

They are both awful

TrashPandas · 29/07/2022 08:09

Chelsea is really bad but Adeline isn't great either and she'd have to spell it out a lot.

Adeline
Chelsea is awful

Adeline, I like the Fever Dolls song and would say it that way

CourtWint · 29/07/2022 19:10

Just looked up the song and I agree with the pronunciation. I like the song by Avril and the Sequoias
