Final two names on our list - George or Joseph (Joe) - which do you prefer?

Would be a sister to Eve.

George.

CantaloupeMelon · 23/07/2022 16:15

George

CalamityClam · 23/07/2022 16:16

Joseph.

Savvet · 23/07/2022 16:17

George unless you're religious - I prefer Joseph as a name actually, but paired with Eve there's a biblical theme which may not be what you're after?

SunshineAndFizz · 23/07/2022 17:05

Hmm not religious no, hadn't thought of the names in that context!

George is nicer, but I do like Joseph

beachcomber70 · 23/07/2022 22:58

Joseph.

Joseph

JasmineVioletRose · 23/07/2022 23:03

George!

AliBaliBears · 23/07/2022 23:57

I like Joseph (and Joe). Have never seen the attraction in George personally.

Like a PP I did immediately notice the Joseph/Eve Biblical theme, but I don't think it's a problem (my son has an old testament name and we're not religious).

RuthW · 23/07/2022 23:58

George

DramaAlpaca · 24/07/2022 00:08

Joseph would be my preference though I don't like Joe much.

I think of George as being a bit stodgy.

mathanxiety · 24/07/2022 00:54

Joseph.

As for Joseph looking 'religious' - George is the patron Saint of England. That white flag with the red cross on it worn on the English rugby team's strip is the cross of Saint George...

pepsirolla · 24/07/2022 01:16

I have a George who was named after my grandad who was named, as many were, after King George, lovely DS lovely name.

CorvusPurpureus · 24/07/2022 01:31

I have a minor prejudice against George, at least the English version, because...it sort of feels like it doesn't need so many letters. It's one of those perfectly pleasant & unremarkable names where the longer you look at it, the odder it looks written down.

So I would go with Joseph, if I had to pick one of the two.

Both solid names that won't date - again Joseph might have the edge here as definitely less fashionable.

MrsBertBibby · 24/07/2022 04:53

Joseph, hands down.

lucifur · 24/07/2022 05:12

Joseph. I really dislike George. It's just not a pleasant sounding name and all the ones I've known have been arses.

ofwarren · 24/07/2022 05:25

Joseph
I've never liked the sound of George.

ProbAmU · 24/07/2022 05:36

Joseph definitely, not a fan of George

lickenchugget · 24/07/2022 05:44

George

Tilda77 · 24/07/2022 07:00

Joseph

SunshineAndFizz · 24/07/2022 09:05

Interesting. I wondered if there'd be one clear winner but it's a fairly even split so far.

love Joe

I love both. Both great names - good for boys and men.
