it seems to be a popular name but I don't personally know any.

Phoebe Joy is lovely. Has a soft and melodic sound.

I know quite a few children called Phoebe and one spelled Pheobe and a Feebee
Most of them get called Pheebs

I don't know why but this name has always sounded like a random noise than a name to me!

I don't know any, and it's on our list. I just don't like Pheebs as a nickname!

Lovely name. Dd was nearly called that but we thought it was too popular so went with the other name. This was 25 years ago. The name we chose is now way more popular than Phoebe

No I don’t think it’s overdone. I have two primary school aged children and we don’t know any! It also doesn’t blend into all the Isla, Eva, Mia’s etc. Lovely name.

It's pretty popular and has been for a while. I only know 2 though.
It's miles better than the Isla, Eva, Mia, Lily, and long vowelly names.

Hope not! I have one, she was born last year. I had lots of compliments on her name when we announced it. I think it's beautiful and I haven't met another yet. It's reasonably popular - ranked no.25 at the moment. But if you look at the stats, it's actually falling down the rankings - highest it got was 21 in 2017 I think. It's not one of those names which has appeared from nowhere and then shot up in popularity, like Isla for example - it's been in the top 100 for a while and so I don't think it will date as badly. I think it's a bit of a marmite name too - some people really hate it, so I don't think it'll ever reach the same level of popularity as more 'pleasing sounding' names like Evie or Lily. I reckon it's unlikely that they'll be more than one Phoebe in a class of 30, but they'll probably be another one or two in your standard secondary school. Personally I see 'overdone' names as ones like Evie / Eva, Amelia, Sophia, Isabelle etc.

Every Phoebe I have met has been a really nice decent girl. Unlike the Graces….

Phoebe is a bit overdone and easy to misspell. I think Hebe is a million times better and very sweet.

Agree with @PurpleVioletBlue its a lovely name and it's numbers have actually been falling for the past few years if you look at official statistics 📉 (below) so a good time to pick this name. I don't know any and there's none in the local school

I really like the name Phoebe. I know a couple (16 and 11). Just asked my DC and they said there aren't any Phoebe's in their year at school.

I wouldn’t say so, no - and I’m someone who’s not at all keen on most very popular names.

I do know a few young Phoebes, but where I am it’s much less overused than the ubiquitous Ava/Ada/Eva/Edie/Evie/Ivy/Isla, or Lily/Lila/Lyra/Layla/Luna type names. It’s also not especially similar to any other currently popular names, so unlike those mentioned you won’t get sucked into any particular ‘sound trend’.

Lovely meaning too - I say go for it. 🙂

I love Phoebe.

I only know 1 (20 yo now) but always loved it since watching friends.

Phoebe Joy is a lovely name.

Phoebe Grace was a name I would have used if required!
