Middle name to Clarence

We have decided on Clarence for a boy, but we have trouble picking middle name. We definitely want middle name.
Can't really use Thomas, Charles, William or Henry, but we're open to both classic and unusual middle as long as it doesn't look out of place. Our favorite names are kind of hipster and they don't fit with Clarence.
We like Clarence because it's established name that doesn't sound like other names - which is a plus.

Have you considered any nicknames for him? Clarrie
If you like Clarence, you might like Clement or Clive

Middle name, I'd go for a strong two-syllable name. Something like Tristan or Richard

Russell
James
John

I plan to use Renz or Renzo as nickname, from Cla-rence part. Maybe just Ren.

Pierre
Wallace
Lionel
Keith
Trevor
Augustus
Derek/Derrick
Cyril
Cornelius

You cannot call a little boy Clarence and then persuade people to use the nickname Renzo.

Skelligsfeathers · 04/07/2022 18:55

Please don't. Really.

hazyruby · 04/07/2022 18:55

I like Clarence Richard, Clarence Tristan, Clarence Peter and Clarence Frederick. Will think about them with OH.

I think I'd use Ren as the nickname, not really a fan of Renzo.

Hohofortherobbers · 04/07/2022 19:14

Clarence James is good. I'd probably assume Clarry as a nn, but I never really understand people deciding their dc nickname, doesn't it just evolve?

OneCup · 04/07/2022 19:14

What letter does your surname start with? Is it a long surname?

OnaBegonia · 04/07/2022 19:15

I usually 🙄 at the nickname stretches on MN, but Renzo for Clarence is just ridiculous.

FolornLawn · 04/07/2022 19:18

I'm on board with Peter too.

Don't most people in the UK pronounce it more like Clarunce rather than with a strong en sound? I think you'd struggle to get to Ren(zo) without it sounding a bit forced.

LizzieBet14 · 04/07/2022 19:22

Clarence Joseph

scrivette · 04/07/2022 19:26

I don't have any suggestions, but I LOVE the name Clarence. There is one at school (shortened to Clarry)) and I think it's a fabulous name.

jackstini · 04/07/2022 20:00

DH's grandad was Clarence and all his friends called him Cal as a nn

Loved that and used it for DS middle name
