By unique, if you suggest Lucien, then you just mean unusual?

I liked more classic names but more unusual names I quite like that come to mind include Victor, Red, Domingo, Anton, Mateo, Gaius, Rosco, Emmett, Raul, Magnus.

If you like Lucien, what about Julius, Julien or Marius.

JuneJubilee · 26/06/2022 21:30

Well you're not going to find a unique name in a baby names book are you?

Do you actually mean an uncommon/unusual name?

unusual/uncommon where? England!? elsewhere?

then try baby names in 'Alaska' 'Japan'

There was a fantastic one on the thread about great-grandfathers’ names - Zerrubbabel

Unlikely to find another one of those in the class!

GreenLeavesRustling · 26/06/2022 21:36

Luca

Littleraindrop15 · 26/06/2022 21:50

I personally thought lucien was not very unique just slightly unusual.. I did like Cillian but husband said it sounds to close to silly.

live in UK but open to any names to be honest I just so far don't like any I've come across

Leaving aside the fact that unique doesn't mean what you think it does, here are some that I've come across from centuries past....

Gauntlet
Thomius
Caton
Laborde

(I'm not necessarily recommending them!)

that's a good idea I might check a complete different country something might catch my eyes thanks for the idea

Cillian is pronounced "killian" so not near silly at all.

Unique means literally that - one of a kind - so no name in a book will be unique.

You mean unusual.

I thought Cillian was pronounced Killy-an not Silly-an

why not look outside the top 1000? For something unusual

Joaquim? Not to my taste but used by a distant relative. Pronounced Jo a kim…

toastofthetown · 26/06/2022 21:56

Here are the names are my list that were unranked in 2020 (that is that there were not three or more uses of them in England and Wales). I don't think all of them are usable, but with so little to go on for your taste - unique was the only factor I could match. I'd make sure to double check the popularity of any names which are suggested here if popularity is a concern to you. I've seen Luca suggested and that's the 25th most popular name and way too popular for me to consider. The Dark Greener website is a great resource if you are in England or Wales.
