Alternatives to Eve?

CoalCraft · 17/06/2022 07:43

9 weeks to go until baby girl is scheduled to join us. We've been calling her Eve and I think in all likelihood that'll be her name, but I'm just putting out some final feelers for alternatives.

DH and I both like Eve but neither of us love it. The trouble is I have quite narrow tastes and DH is very fussy - he's vetoed 90% of the things I've suggested (without coming up with any of the serious suggestions himself 🙄 )

I'm looking for traditional female names that don't end in a vowel sound. Things like Catherine, Elizabeth, Imogen (belong to family members), Jocelyn and Delores (vetoed by DH as too old fashioned). We toyed with Harriet for a while but prefer Eve.

Our first daughter is called Beatrix and DH thinks we peaked with that one. He can't see how we'd ever come up with something as nice!

Can anyone suggest alternatives? We're both happy with Eve but I just feel there's an even more perfect name out there I've missed.

Zoe is the Greek of the Hebrew name Eve....

MsTSwift · 17/06/2022 08:40

Anything but Eve! Every other girl is called Eve here. Met a couple with a newborn last week - another Eve! When will it end?! Gets terribly confusing

Hadtocomment · 17/06/2022 09:28

There does seem like an awful lot of Eve's at the moment. Is that a consideration or don't you mind? Here's a few random classic names Im fond of

We're thinking of going for Estelle. It's tricky when you have two of the same gender, can totally relate to feeling you picked the ultimate name for your first!!

Thissucksmonkeynuts · 17/06/2022 09:50

Lillith.

CoalCraft · 17/06/2022 09:55

I don't mind one way or the other about popularity really! I haven't personally met any little Eves but I don't think it'd bother me if I did.

But... DH likes Lois! In fact he likes it more than Eve , so got some considering to do. I also adore Lillian but DH meh on it.
