Thoughts on Lois? I think it's sweet for a little girl and strong sounding for a woman. Underused but not 'out there'. What do you think? Do you know any?

I know one, she’s maybe 10 by now. I like it a lot.

simonthedog · 16/06/2022 21:57

I love it. I know an adult one who is fabulous.

Luredbyapomegranate · 16/06/2022 21:58

Love it. Inexplicably hardly used.

Cetrion · 16/06/2022 22:01

I know one in their mid-twenties. I really love it! Only downside for me would be potential family guy jokes. I think you're right about it coming across as sweet for a child but also a good, strong name for an adult 🙂

PaddleBoardingMomma · 16/06/2022 22:02

I know 3! One is a senior oncologist, one is a barrister and the other is a very talented artist! Based on that alone I'm convinced all Lois named women are very smart and lovely 😂

Toddlerteaplease · 16/06/2022 22:08

We had a patient with that name. She has learning and physical disabilities, but such a character, she brightened up the ward and made us cry with laughter many times. and we all loved her. So I like the name!

quietnightmare · 16/06/2022 22:09

Lovely

knickersniff · 16/06/2022 22:11

Oh now that's one I've not heard in so so long .. love it

CharlotteFlax · 16/06/2022 22:14

I know one old lady Lois and one little girl Lois and they are both lovely. As a previous poster said it is inexplicably underused.

It's easy to spell and pronounce too!

GuyFawkesDay · 16/06/2022 22:14

I have one.

She's 8. And the only one we know. It's an old fashioned biblical name and I love it because it's strong and yet feminine too.

She is often known as Lo & Lolly

Ravenclawdropout · 16/06/2022 22:15

Personally I love Lois.

To me it would be grouped with names such as: Dolores, Delphine, Candice, Francine, Lalage and Betty.

Jewish grandmothers that were partying at the same resort as Baby in "Dirty Dancing".

HappyGoDucky · 16/06/2022 22:16

It's a lovely name , you can't go wrong. I'd use it next time but I'm done so no next time. Go for it !

Comedycook · 16/06/2022 22:17

Great name

DramaAlpaca · 16/06/2022 22:18

I love it

Lalosalamanca · 16/06/2022 22:24

Lane.
Love it

WeasilyPleased · 16/06/2022 22:28

Love love love it. Still trying to tell myself that Carys and Lois sound ok together if this one is a girl!

LaPufalina · 16/06/2022 22:31

Met one today and she was a cracking young lady! Also know a 5yo one and she's great too.

purpleme12 · 16/06/2022 22:35

It's lovely

LovelyDaaling · 16/06/2022 22:35

It's a lovely name, one of my favourites. Also Carys and Margot

ChagSameachDoreen · 16/06/2022 22:42

Ugly, ungainly name.

Puts me in mind of Lois Waller from Sweet Valley High.

babyno2isdue · 16/06/2022 22:48

I have a Lois!! Had nothing but compliments (to my face anyway Grin) Still a wee baby but it really suits her, I love that it's not to frilly but still feminine. Works well for baby, teen and adult. She often gets called Lo or lilo by her big brother

Mykittensmittens · 16/06/2022 22:55

It was my choice had DS been a girl. I’ve loved the name for ages. I’m welsh and know a couple
of others but not many.

BreadInCaptivity · 16/06/2022 22:58

It's a love from me.

Justkeeppedaling · 16/06/2022 23:00

How are you pronouncing it? As in "Loyce Lane" or more like "Lowiss"??

peaceinourtime · 17/06/2022 00:15

Go for it, its a lovely name refreshing and ageless at the same time. It will age better then some of today's names of the moment.
