Hello,

So it looks like itโ€™s down to these two for baby #5.๐Ÿ˜…

DH likes Isolde and I like Eleanor. What are your thoughts?

Our other children are:

Josephine, Iris, Theodore and Charlotte.

Thank you for your help. ๐Ÿ˜Š

OP posts:
Are your childrenโ€™s vaccines up to date?

Eleanor is beautiful and works well at any age. That'd be my choice.

CuteOrangeElephant · 16/06/2022 14:40

Isolde!

It's top of my list should my baby turn out to be a girl.

PeskyRooks · 16/06/2022 14:43

Eleanor. I don't really know how you say Isolde to be honest is it just I sold? Iz old?

Basilbrushgotfat · 16/06/2022 14:47

Two of my favourite names - I don't know how to choose between them!

Eleanor!

Isolde didnโ€™t end well. Eleanor of Aquitaine on the other hand was able to cross the Alps twice in her eighties, and arrange a royal marriage when she arrived. A heroine and a role model.

newbiename · 16/06/2022 15:11

Eleanor , just commented this as a lovely name on another thread.

jossysgiant · 16/06/2022 15:14

Iseult is my favourite spelling but Isolde is preferable to Eleanor

xmasaries · 16/06/2022 16:00

Eleanor!

OperationRinka · 16/06/2022 16:02

Isolde. Eleanor is lovely but bloody ubiquitous.

I normally dislike names with tragic endings but Isolde is just such a beautiful name.

Chaoslatte · 16/06/2022 16:04

Eleanor. Isolde is a weird namesake imo. A character who is famous for drinking a love potion with the wrong person and then committing adultery with no agency. Whereas lots of cool Eleanors - of Acquitaine, Roosevelt, Ostrom.

Mushroo · 16/06/2022 16:06

Eleanor. Isolde is a lifetime of mispronunciation/ spelling

fruitbrewhaha · 16/06/2022 16:06

Isolde.

I don't like Eleanor. I think it's the nor bit.

StEthelburgaRose · 16/06/2022 16:09

StarTwins · 16/06/2022 16:11

Ravenclawdropout · 16/06/2022 16:29

How is Isolde pronounced?

Lindisfarne1 · 16/06/2022 16:33

My names Eleanor, wasn't much keen on it when I was younger but now I like it. I'm in my 50s I've never met another Eleanor

CPL593H · 16/06/2022 17:37

Both beautiful but it's Eleanor for me (favourite girls name)

HairyToity · 16/06/2022 17:38

Isolde

StarDolphins · 16/06/2022 17:39

Isolde Is my fave!

Rubyroseyposey · 16/06/2022 17:41

Eleanor

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 16/06/2022 17:41

Eleanor. Isolde looks nice but isn't it just pronounced "I solder" which doesn't sound great!

LouisCatorze · 16/06/2022 17:42

Eleanor is a classic and goes well with your other DC's names.

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/06/2022 17:44

Ooo I like both
I would worry the beautiful Eleanor would just become another Ellie though so I would go with Isolde

TitoMojito · 16/06/2022 18:23

I'm too much of an Arthurian fan to not say Isolde. Besides, there were three different Isoldes in the legend. Admittedly two of them didnโ€™t have great endings but it's still a lovely name.
