Names someone would like if they like Joanie and June

At a bit of an impasse with DH over baby name. He loves Joanie (originally Joni but I worried about the unconventional spelling) and struggles to entertain another name. I like it, but not sure it’s ‘the one’.

We both quite like June, which is along the same lines. I guess because it’s similar.

It doesn’t need to start with J!

Any ideas for names that might appeal to his tastes?

Sure you've considered this but Jean seems the obvious alternative?

Thanks for the suggestions - I really like Agnes, Audrey and Juno - typically he dislikes all those! 🙁

We’ve discussed Josephine and Jennifer, but are slightly put off as they will almost certainly be Jo and Jen as no one will use the full versions.

Juliet has also come up - we both quite like that.

Joanie is a brilliant name, so is June, so is Jean / Jeanne/ Jeannie.

Jeannine maybe? Jackie/ Jacqueline

I would have thought Joni Mitchell would have meant Joni was quite well known.

I much prefer the spelling Joni. Well recognised due to Joni Mitchell and looks like a name in it's own right whereas Joanie looks like a cutesy nickname for Joan which I think is old lady rather than old lady chic tbh.

If someone told me they had called their daughter "Joanie" I would assume the spelling was Joni - I've met a few over the years and Joni Mitchell has made that a mainstream spelling.
I think Josephine nowadays would be shortened to Josie rather than Jo.
Joni and June have a retro 50s feel to me. How about:

Thanks for the suggestions - I like Bonnie, Daphne, Jessa, Lena, Mabel, Nora, Sylvie, and Sadie.

I suppose my tastes are fairly traditional - but don’t want it to sound too unfashionable old lady (I know these things come round in cycles) or overly frilly.

I think Joanie is just about ok on that sense and a bit more popular now, but even though they’re close, I’m not keen on Jean, Jackie etc.

I like the Joni spelling but apparently it’s also a period product brand and when I’ve searched it on other threads, people point out that it’s too close to Yoni (which means vagina)! So those things put me off!

DH definitely likes the Joni Mitchell link.

It’s so hard to find anything else that he will consider!

My grandmother was called June...it's actually lovely! Why not use it?

Joan and Joanna are the same name (feminines of John), but Joanna is nicer.

What about Jeanie I feel like that is quite similar to Joanie but has a slightly different feel to it.
I love the name Josephine and I don’t think you have to worry about the nickname Jo because there are so many other options like Josie or Jose or Phenie.what about Ellen or Edith with the nn edie or Ellie

If you like Juliet you could use that, or Juliette as the spelling. Or there's Julianne. Or what about Jill or Jillian?
