Boy's Name Please - unusual but not whacky

yesterdaytheycame · 29/05/2022 01:49

Me and husband can't decide on a boy's name.

I like names that are unusual. I don't want Fred or John or James, although they are lovely names.

Celtic would work, we are British.

My husband favours traditional names but I just want something that stands out.

Ideas are so welcome and appreciated, maybe we can agree on something from the list as we haven't been able to agree so far, and it's important for us to agree.

Thank you.

From another thread. We have a 19 year old Morris in our extended family who loves that he has never met another. He was Mo in primary school and Moomoo as a baby.

The bible is full of overlooked, lovely names, I like:

Joachim
Azriel
Ozias
Zimri
Gaius
Lemuel
Omri
Havilah.

Before choosing an unknown Biblical nale, research the character/meaning before ning your child.

Azriel from the list above is the Angel of death in the old the Testament and Jewish & Islamic faiths. So not one traditionally used for a baby for obvious reasons. Those names in the list above might be overlooked for similar reasons to the one for Azriel.

Oh 😝😳🤪 I just really liked the sound of it!

@LisaSimpson77 😀i😀i really like Azriel too but wouldn't use it for a baby because of it's meaning. It's really important to choose a name for the meaning and not just how it sounds. Although some cute babies to grow up to be like the angel of death, it's best not to tempt fate and name them after it. 😁

Find a name you like and look it up on names.darkgreener.com/. The figures are only for England and Wales but you'll get an idea of popularity

Some of the names posted are popular and some are misspelt
