Horrid

Taught a Kai years ago, spelt Kye, I think. Kai like that is Michael Gothard.

Definitely a boys name I'm afraid.

calmlakes · 22/05/2022 19:44

It is a fairly normal name for perfectly respectable Asian boys in my part of the world.
I would be surprised to see a girl called Kai though.
Maybe Kailani instead?

A boy's name, and one from.a few years ago - the Kevin of its time.
There are some gorgeous girls' names - why give her a naff boys' one.

I thought that too, but I know someone personally called Kaia so wouldn’t be able too. Still looking for another name that kai could be used as a NN for

Kylie Grin

I know a Kyra who gets called Ky.

I think it's fine as a nn for a girl, not as a full name. Kaia is ok.

Someone came on a while ago to complain about her daughter wanting to change her name (Cody) because her daughter was fed up with having a boys name. I don't think it would be fair as a full name.

Oh no, it’s v… how do I say this tactfully… déclassé

Friends would be Lacey-May and Taylor…

On balance, I think it would be much more preferable to be thought of as "déclassé" rather than this pretentious twattery.

I was gonna say no but then read the comments and saw khai 😍really like that for a girl, spelling especially

I don't like it... But I don't like Kai for a boy either. It's trendy and will probably seem time-stamped in the future.

I know a Kai born in 1989. It has been around a while.

Marty13 · 25/05/2022 02:46

I think Kai is a lovely name, @Cryingintherain99 I like it for both girls and boys. Lovely sound.

OP, if you want a longer name, how about Kaileigh/Kayleigh or Kaiden/Kayden ? Or Kaicey ? But Kai is fine too.

Notcreativeatall · 25/05/2022 02:59

I'm in australia and have seen it as a nn for Kylie
Could use as nn for Michaela
