What does Miriam make you think of?

What connotations spring to mind? (apart from Moses' sister of course)

I know three Miriam's. It's a lovely classic name. They are all lovely caring people, so I just associate it with that.

Miriam is in my mind an older woman's name but actually, it's really pretty and cool.
I know a young girl named Marilyn which at first I want keen on, but I now think it sounds sophisticated and classic.

I'm seriously considering Miriam if we have a girl. Got to get it past dh first. There was a very quiet one who lived a few doors down when I was at junior school. She only came round once. Our house was extremely noisy!

But this thread has made me think of the fact that my dad was friends with Miriam Stoppard when they were younger. I don't think it would have been an influence in the name choice (he was Jewish too), but maybe...
