What does Miriam make you think of?

What connotations spring to mind? (apart from Moses' sister of course)

Bit frumpy somehow; sorry!

The Marvellous Mrs Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan); a Mimi of my acquaintance (fabulous association, she’s a delight); Miriam Margolyes (amazing).

If I had another baby it would be on the list for sure.

My immediate thought was middle aged marriage counsellor. Then I saw the mentions of Miriam Stoppard and realised why I had that notion!

I think of it as a Muslim name - maybe Iranian. But one of those crossing cultures between East and West names.
It is a lovely name and I like how it can be shortened to Miri or Mimi

Miriam Stoppard seems nice. The other famous Miriam is horrible. Either way, Miriam is a lovely name OP.

Outside edge, I used to watch it with my mum when I was in primary school and upon reflection, it was entirely inappropriate!

Mrs Maisel or an older geography supply teacher called Ms Miriam who gave me a detention for forgetting part of the water cycle and who filled one of the teachers desk drawers with used tissues

I love the name Miriam! I went to school with a very sweet and beautiful French girl called Miriam.

It's also my daughter's name! We use her middle name usually but she sometimes gets called Mirry. She's a baby so can't say whether she's in line with my assumptions about the name!

Most Christian names are Jewish - because the early Christians were primarily Jewish. So Miriam is actually the same name as Mary - it's just closer to the original Hebrew version

I think of my young niece, known as Miri, and M Margolyes, who I love despite her ever increasing outrageousness. So I think it is a fabulous name and I like both Mimi/Mims and Miri as nicknames.

Lots of Dutch families where I live - with lots of little Miriams in the primary school! Generally Miri or Mimi for short. But several stick with Miriam. Popular and much liked here.

Miriam Margoyles and she’s brilliant. I loved this name for DD but went with something different. Such a gorgeous name.
