Delphine Donkey (Peppa Pig) is the only thing that comes to mind. This says more about me.

mum2jakie · 02/05/2022 15:01

The only Delphine I have heard of is the donkey in Peppa Pig as above!

SpaghettiSquash · 02/05/2022 15:01

It's pretty. I like it.

SpringLobelia · 02/05/2022 15:01

Despite not speaking French I have a serious weakness for French names. So Delphine is a yes for me. Ditto Sandrine, Mathilde, etc.

DoctorZog · 02/05/2022 15:02

Yes, I thought about the donkey... but there's also Suzy Sheep, Zoe Zebra etc. Would it put you off? Do you actually like the name?

Belle Delphine the prn star who sold her used bath water to pervs.

blameitonthecaffeine · 02/05/2022 15:36

I've never met one. Not overly keen on the een sound.

I know a little girl called Delphi though, which I think is really pretty (although perhaps too much associated with the Cursed Child now).

mumonthehill · 02/05/2022 15:37

Delphine is such a lovely name. I also love French names!!

DogsAndGin · 02/05/2022 16:06

It’s a no from me

I love it. It was on my list. I don't know any.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 02/05/2022 16:23

I can imagine a provincial boutique in 1986 that wanted to appear upmarket calling itself Delphine's.

Maybe it's because I've never met a person with the name. I much prefer Celine. Or Celeste.

Ha! I quite like Celeste, although it reminds me of Daphne and Celeste. Celine just makes me think of Celine Dion...

It makes me think of the Delphi murders.

plinkyy · 02/05/2022 18:16

Love it, classic French name.

Luluuuuuuuuuu85 · 02/05/2022 18:33

It sounds very french to me, I would be surprised to meet one who didn't have a link to France! It's nice though, Delphi or Elphie are cute

FayCarew · 02/05/2022 18:43

Dolphin

Organictangerine · 02/05/2022 18:45

It’s lovely if you have a connection to France

makes me think of dolphins!

Abraxan · 02/05/2022 18:54

I teach a 5/6 year old girl called Delphine.
Had no idea there was a child's cartoon character with the name - it's certainly never mentioned in class or by the other children. Definitely not a reason to not use it.

Lived in france for a year, but otherwise no connection. Not sure it matters though - there are lots of other popular french names around at the moment e.g. Clementine, Amelie, Elodie, Genevieve etc.

I don’t really like een ends, they sound old fashioned to me - Pauline, Rosaleen.. but it’s alright.

Laureatus · 02/05/2022 23:02

Sorry, it makes me think of the really drippy character from Cold Comfort Farm!

BungleandGeorge · 02/05/2022 23:05

I like it but only if you have a French accent

Cloud16 · 02/05/2022 23:06

I also think it's a bit dolphin-y

That was Elphine! Elphine Starkadder.

I was actually about to suggest Elphine as an alternative!
