Middle names for Amelia?

Hi,

We've settled on Amelia as a first name. I know it's popular which might put a lot of people off, but we haven't found anything else that we prefer.

We're stuck on a middle name, with little one due in 3 weeks. Current options are:

Amelia Rose
Amelia Alice

We have quite a long surname (9 letters) which is nature sounding, and like pretty feminine names.

Which middle name do people prefer, or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Of your names I like Rose.

I also like:

Amelia Jasmine
Amelia Kate
Amelia Beatrice
Amelia Marianne
Amelia Pearl

Rose goes really well. I also like Grace and Hope.

Jane.

Not Amelia Rose. Giving one of the most common first names with one the most common middle names is kind of dull to me. I prefer Alice, although I'm not the biggest fan of -a A- names, as the two A sounds blend into each other.
Beatrice, Clio, Fern, Giselle, Juno, Lilac, Primrose, Tess

Beatrice, Clio, Fern, Giselle, Juno, Lilac, Primrose, Tess

This was one of my worries with Rose as it's another common one.

I think I'm leaning towards Amelia Alice slightly, but did have some doubts about the AA initial (full initials would be AAG). Alice also has some family ties.

Another option we have is Amelia Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is mine and my mums middle names so I like that tie, but feel like the name Elizabeth is a bit dull 🤷🏼‍♀️

I agree with PP to avoid Amelia Rose, there must be hundreds of young girls with that combination of names. It just feels very bland. If you like floral names, maybe Iris, Daisy, Poppy or Violet could work?

I like Amelia Alice and Amelia Elizabeth.

Fivebeanchilli · 26/04/2022 20:36

Amelia Rose flows better but she may well be one of several Amelia Roses she knows.
I like Amelia Alice.
Amelia Elizabeth would be my favourite of those three.
How about:
Amelia Catherine
Amelia Kate
Amelia Lucy
Amelia Daisy
Amelia Tess
Amelia Polly

I love Amelia Lily x

FayCarew · 26/04/2022 20:48

Amelia Rose - The combination is very popular so it must be nice, mustn't it

Amelia Alice doesn't flow

Elysant · 26/04/2022 20:54

Amelia Alice is my favorite, but it doesn't flow

Amelia Grey
Amelia Blue
Amelia Chloe
Amelia Cecily
Amelia Fae
Amelia Cleo
Amelia Jane
Amelia Heidi
Amelia Tess
Amelia Lacey
Amelia Mist
Amelia Gwen

I always think middle names are so infrequently used that honouring someone else is more meaningful. A grandparent or aunt or godparent. I agree with another poster that Amelia Alice doesn't particularly flow but how often do you read your full name out?

GoodSoup · 26/04/2022 21:35

Sorry but every Amelia will have Rose/Grace/May as a middle name as they’re the filler names for girls currently. So overused.

I like Amelia Alice, not sure Elizabeth quite flows. It’s a nice name, not dull at all.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/04/2022 22:33

Amelia Rose.
Amelia Willow
Amelia Grace
Amelia Jane
Amelia Jasmine
Amelia Ray
Amelia Florence
Amelia Beth

MammaWeasel · 26/04/2022 22:37

Not Jane......Amelia Jane was a very naughty doll.....

Butterbeer4All · 26/04/2022 22:38

Amelia Jane
Amelia Kate

RoseMartha · 26/04/2022 22:42

Both are fairly popular middle names.
How about?

Amelia Jane
Amelia June
Amelia Jean
Amelia Joan

nestinginnl · 26/04/2022 22:44

Ha, my birth name was Alice Amelia. Alice was one of the most popular names that year and I subsequently changed to Amelia as there were so few back then that it was a more unique name.

The irony isn't lost on me that it's one of the most popular now.

When I changed to my married name I dropped Alice completely as I felt that changing to Amelia Alice was no good as it didn't flow.

Not sure if that helps. But you could always do Alice Amelia and use the second name 🤷‍♀️ you might find she swaps to Alice as it's more uncommon now 🤣

I feel like Lily and Rose are such common filler names. I'm a fan of doing something rather out there for a middle name, especially if using a common first name.

Depends what your last name is too! Not much goes with ours.

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/04/2022 22:46

Jane
Bethany

bare · 26/04/2022 22:52

I think Amelia Anne or Amelia Eve are googling

bare · 26/04/2022 22:52

Good ! Not googling Confused

kaelymarie · 26/04/2022 22:52

I love Amelia Marie.
Amelia not such a common name in US. At least, in my area.

bare · 26/04/2022 22:57

Or Amelia Beth for your family name connection?
