Middle names for Amelia?

Hi,

We've settled on Amelia as a first name. I know it's popular which might put a lot of people off, but we haven't found anything else that we prefer.

We're stuck on a middle name, with little one due in 3 weeks. Current options are:

Amelia Rose
Amelia Alice

We have quite a long surname (9 letters) which is nature sounding, and like pretty feminine names.

Which middle name do people prefer, or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Of your three I like Amelia Elizabeth. On sound alone, but then twice as much as she'll share it with you & your Mum!

middle names are great for family connections!
if you don't want to then I like
Amelia Grace

"Sorry but every Amelia will have Rose/Grace/May as a middle name as they’re the filler names for girls currently. So overused."

What's a 'filler' name, just a popular one?

Not Amelia Rose. Too common.

Did you know that amelia is the medical name for having no limbs? Might be something to think about.

A pp has suggested Ray, which I think sounds lovely, although I’d spell it Rae.

i think one syllable names sound nice with Amelia personally, so apart from Rae, I like Jane, Bo and Fay.

Amelia Faye ❤

or what about a mix of part of parents names, or letters from both parents names - put letters on here (mixed up so not identifying) and someone may come up with something meaningful.

Is she first child?

I love Amelia Grace. Feels like it would flow better with a G surname too.

I guess so. I work with kids so I see a lot of the same names. Amelia/Isla/Evie/Ava/Lily/Ellie all paired with Rose/Grace/May. Often hyphenated. It’s the same as Ann/Jane/Louise from the 80s. It’s like the default middle name for girls.

A filler middle name is one that is very popular.

I was born in the 60s and know a Julie Anne, Cheryl Anne 2, Sarah Janes, 2 Laura Janes, an Eleanor Jane, a Catherine Anne, a Mary Anne, a Helen Anne, an Anna Jane, and 3 Sally Annes ....

Not Rose, May or Grace - Amelia plus one of those is a mega cliche.

alice is fine, or something very classic like Katherine or Frances.

I like Amelia Rose and Amelia Alice, both sound pretty.
Short middle names are probably good as you said your surname is long and Amelia is long to say.
Rose works well or things like Lucy, Quinn, Jo etc
