Which of these is your favourite for a nickname for Elizabeth?

Betty

SpiderinaWingMirror · 16/04/2022 23:08

None of these are nicknames for Elizabeth, Lilibet if you have blue blood.
Assuming you don't, Liz, Lizzie, or Beth. Of those I like Beth.

toastofthetown · 16/04/2022 23:09

Of those Lily, in general Elsa. Lilibet makes me think you are an ardent royalist and Bettina is a dated German name.

chubbachub · 16/04/2022 23:14

Bettina is just awful.

I like Beth or Lizzie.

TracyMosby · 16/04/2022 23:14

Liesl
Buffy.

MarmiteCoriander · 16/04/2022 23:14

Why do children always need a nickname? Genuine question? Why not just name them the name you prefer?

If I HAD to pick a nickname for Elizabeth, it would be Beth. I agree, none you have chosen are actual nn's for Elizabeth!

TracyMosby · 16/04/2022 23:15

Although lilibet works this year with the jubilee.

SpringSunshine09 · 16/04/2022 23:15

Lily X

Greensleeves · 16/04/2022 23:16

I like Betty. I know an 11yo Betty who is adorable.

I also like Beth, Lizzie (but not Liz, ugh) and Eliza

Lilibet is sweet but it's too closely associated with the Queen. Lily isn't short for Elizabeth and nor is Bettina. Lilli is just misspelt Lily.

Or, if like my friend's daughter you hate Elizabeth and all derivatives, you become Zabe, pronounced Zay Be. It suits her (a bit goth).

ILoveMyMonkey · 16/04/2022 23:19

Bettina is the cow in Paw Patrol 🐮.
Lillibet will forever be associated with Harry and Megan.
She’ll inevitably end up as liz, Lizzie or Beth, maybe at a push Elle to rhyme with bell.

Kite22 · 16/04/2022 23:19

None of those.
If I had an Elizabeth I would call her Liz, Lizzie or Beth.

If I wanted to call a child Lily. I would call her Lily.

I wouldn't use any of the others at all.

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/04/2022 23:20

I LOVE Zabe.

I want to be a cool 16 yo goth again.

runforyourdog · 16/04/2022 23:21

DD is Elizabeth and we call her Zibby. But random but she pulls it off and never have the problem of other kids with the same name!

TracyMosby · 16/04/2022 23:22

Libby

Theoldwoman · 16/04/2022 23:23

Actually none.

I love Beth though.

Frazzled2207 · 16/04/2022 23:25

Beth

I also like Lily but would not see it as a nn for Elizabeth.

RoseWindow · 16/04/2022 23:26

Bess

Greensleeves · 16/04/2022 23:27

I used to know an Elizabeth called Tizzy. It was sweet and suited her.

oviraptor21 · 16/04/2022 23:32

Lily is a nickname for Lilian, not Elizabeth.

shreddednips · 16/04/2022 23:38

None of them, sorry op. I wouldn't ever think Lily was short for Elizabeth. Betty or Libby are the best IMO.

DramaAlpaca · 16/04/2022 23:41

From OP's list, Lily. It certainly can be used as a diminutive of Elizabeth, though it's uncommon.

I really like Lily, it's simple and pretty. I'm not keen on the others at all.

JulesRimetStillGleaming · 16/04/2022 23:44

Bessie but for me it's a family name so has extra meaning.

CaffiSaliMali · 17/04/2022 08:59

Lily or Lili (one L and an I is the Welsh spelling).

Otherwise Betty/Beti, Betsy/Betsi, Beth, Bess, Bessie, Liz, Lizzie, Libby, Eliza, Liza and Lisa.

I've always liked Libby for Elizabeth but Beth and Eliza are nice too.
