Lexi?

I’m really liking the name Lexi for my baby girl. Is it an unusual name? Because I remember it being very popular several years ago but I haven’t heard of any new baby Lexis in a long time. If I go for this name, it will be just Lexi, no longer name because I really prefer Lexi just on it’s own and not as a nickname for a full name like Alexa, Alexia, Alexis or Alexie. I also really dislike the name Alexandra and I think it’s too dated. Can I name her just Lexi? Also what middle names go with it? I was thinking Rae and DH likes Lexi Mae but I think Mae is overdone as a middle name. Can anyone think of any beautiful unique middle name to go with her first name?

I think Lexi can be a pretty nn but far prefer Alexandra as a full name. Be prepared for everyone to assume age has a full name.

IMHO both Mae and Rae are massively overdone as mn. Half of baby girls currently have May/Mai/Mae, Rae, Grace or Rose. Very filler.

How about Louisa, Primrose, Charlotte, Betony, Zinnia?

Donutgirl · 08/04/2022 17:02

Also how many little Lexis do you know and where abouts in the country? Where I live in Hertfordshire I haven’t heard it much, not for a while and the ones I’ve met are usually older kids and not babies or toddlers.

I don't like it. I think it is a sound that doesn't roll off the tongue very well and it's not great anyway.

Not only that but there are so many L names popular now

Giveitall · 08/04/2022 17:12

Our dog was called Lexi. My friend’s horse is also called Lexi.
Lexi for a child? By association not for me but each to his own.

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 08/04/2022 17:12

There are three in the school I work in. (3 form entry junior school). One is definitely Alexandra, the other two I think are just Lexi.

suckingonchillidogs · 08/04/2022 17:13

I think Amanda Holdens daughter is Lexi

suckingonchillidogs · 08/04/2022 17:15

Soz, no it's Alexa but I'm sure she calls her Lexi. Which may or may not put you off!

trainnane · 08/04/2022 17:17

I know several Lexie

Snoopsnoggysnog · 08/04/2022 17:18

Really don’t like it on its own sorry and I can’t bear Mae, it’s such a nothingy middle name. But I love Alexandra, it’s beautiful and will never date.

Middle names - I think one syllable ones go well with Lexi or Alexandra
Ruth
Faith
Quinn
Belle
Eve

Duchess379 · 08/04/2022 17:23

I have a family member called Lexi, she's about 12 now. Lovely name 💕

GoodSoup · 08/04/2022 17:26

Oh not another Lexi Mae! They’ve all got May or Rae or Rose or Grace after it. Usual filler middle names.

No, I really don’t like Lexi and yes it’s very common.

KirstenBlest · 08/04/2022 17:31

You could have Alexis as a BC name

I can't bear Mae either and May is meh as a middle name

Donutgirl · 08/04/2022 18:03

Thank you everyone. I think we’ll stay away from Mae, Rae, Grace, Rose or Marie. But I still like Lexi Rae Grin

If you like it, use it. You'll probably never meet any of us, and you probably wouldn't be keen on our DC's names

You could go for something like Alexa Rachel or Alexa Aurelia and make Lexi Rae a nn

SunshiningBoo · 08/04/2022 18:59

I like Lexi and I don't know any. I think it's a nice name.

Firebird83 · 08/04/2022 22:23

I don’t like it at all.

DramaAlpaca · 08/04/2022 22:24

I don't like it either.

WeasilyPleased · 08/04/2022 22:39

I'm not keen tbh. It seems a bit dated now.

RosemaryRosemary · 08/04/2022 22:45

Makes me think of Lexi on Cheer

veronicagoldberg · 09/04/2022 12:40

Dreadful name. So brash.

ImAvingOops · 09/04/2022 12:49

I like Lexi Rae. It flows nicely.
My sister goes by Lexi, her middle name is Clare. Marie was a nice choice, and Louisa.
Agree that you need to avoid Mae, Rose and Grace. As pretty as they are, they've been overused in recent years as middle names.

TurningUpMyStereotype · 09/04/2022 12:57

I know a few but they’re in their teens and twenties. None of them are nice or from nice families. Also I’ve heard people say ‘sexy Lexi’ which makes me feel a bit 🤮

DigitalGhost · 09/04/2022 13:17

My daughter is Lexi, short for Alexa although nobody calls her anything but Lexi.
She is the only Lexi in her school and we don't know any others at all.
She's 4 and she loves her name.

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/04/2022 13:32

No, as full name it has a negative reputation, and anything like Lexi Rae just makes it worse

As a nn it’s fine, but don’t land her with it as a full name. It may not help her in life.

KylieCharlene · 09/04/2022 13:38

I di like it although I don't think it will suit anyone over the age of 25.
It does bring with it a bit of a 'good-time girl' reputation imo.
