Thoughts on the name Dylan please?

How popular do you think it is - do you know many?

Dylan is a nice name.
I don't know a single one.

thesnaleandthewhail · 04/04/2022 22:19

I know a 3 yo Dylan. I think its getting more popular

SnotMikeUpPuffedHe · 04/04/2022 22:19

I'm in Wales and know a few; none of them younger than about fifteen though I think.

Here it is pronounced more like dull-ann - not the same as Bob Dylan.

Horaceandgus · 04/04/2022 22:19

I know one-nice enough lad
I worked with his mother years ago
I think there might have been one in my sons class at school too but I’m not sure-could have been a Declan
It’s a nice enough name

Mia400000 · 04/04/2022 22:23

I know two the same age as my DD (12)

Yes it's a nice name.

DramaAlpaca · 04/04/2022 22:23

Two, both late teens. I like the name.

bobbythevet · 04/04/2022 22:25

Hate it. It's a bit of a 'naughty kid' name IMO

FourChimneys · 04/04/2022 22:27

Three, all under the age of 10. Perhaps it is more popular here than elsewhere.

Two are well behaved, the other not so much...

GoodnightJude1 · 04/04/2022 22:27

I know 2.

Both 15.

I dislike them both…. And the name always makes me think of a shaggy dog Confused

Skelligsfeathers · 04/04/2022 22:28

3
Two are about 15
One is 10

SunshiningBoo · 04/04/2022 22:29

I know 2. One in his late twenties, one is 14.

HorribleHerstory · 04/04/2022 22:29

Six. One in his thirties, one 20s, one 14yo Dillon, 15yo and 8yo Dylans and a baby/toddler Dylan.

Justkeeppedaling · 04/04/2022 22:30

Are you going to pronounce it the correct Welsh way (Dullan) or the incorrect English way (Dillan)?

Benjaminbunnyslettuce · 04/04/2022 22:31

I don’t know any.

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 04/04/2022 22:32

Three that I can think of. One late 40s, one around 20 and one early teens.

maddy68 · 04/04/2022 22:32

I know several I am a teacher and I also have many Irish friends it seems to more common in Ireland
It's nice though

JaneJeffer · 04/04/2022 22:35

I'm in Ireland. The baby across the way when I had DS2 16 years ago was called Dylan. Don't know of any others!

HammerToFall · 04/04/2022 22:35

My 16 year old is dylan, don't know any others.

JaneJeffer · 04/04/2022 22:36

X post @HammerToFall was it you? Grin

KohlaParasaurus · 04/04/2022 22:38

I think there's at least one,, all boys, in every class in every primary school where I live (not Wales). Like a PP, I think of it as a "naughty kid name", but objectively it's absolutely fine. And particularly stylish for a girl.

Hohofortherobbers · 04/04/2022 22:39

Only 1 and he must be a teenager now. Lovely name

NuffSaidSam · 04/04/2022 22:41

I know loads but all teenagers. I think it was really popular about 15 years ago. I don't know any under 10.

glowingcandle · 04/04/2022 22:43

I know four under 6! And one in late 30s. Must be particularly popular in my area (not Wales).

stickygotstuck · 04/04/2022 22:43

One 15 year old, named after Dylan Thomas.

FlappyCats · 04/04/2022 22:45

One of my students is called Dylan. He's 11.
