Is it due a come back? Why or who not.

It's a great name. I work with one and he's really cool.

PeeAche2 · 01/04/2022 10:23

My neighbour is called Roger. Lovely bloke but he's 83 and drives a 1998 Nisan Micra when he probably shouldn't.

I'm not sure I can overcome that image in my mind.

Apart from the old fashioned 'good rogering joke' it's a good name. I'm in love with the Duke of Hastings so would morph it into Rege

Joystir59 · 01/04/2022 10:26

Or Simon!

Soffit · 01/04/2022 10:27
Hmm
Jellycatrabbit · 01/04/2022 10:32

Roger that

I can never spell it - always want to put Rodger. It looks like a name that's missing something (I.e. a consonant or two).

miltonj · 01/04/2022 10:35

Nooo, it just doesn't sound good.

Neongoddess · 01/04/2022 10:35

I know a Roger. He is early mid to late 50s, but he seems alot older due to his outlook. He is like something from the 1940s.

I don't mind the name itself. But every Roger I have known deeds UK with the nickname of 'Roger the Dodger'.definitely would name a child it.

MrsMoastyToasty · 01/04/2022 10:36

To give someone "a good rogering " means to have sex with them.
Nuff said.

FrecklesMalone · 01/04/2022 10:37

Rogering is the most unsexy word to describe sex. Worse than booking.

FrecklesMalone · 01/04/2022 10:38

Bonking even!

FrecklesMalone · 01/04/2022 10:38

I bet Johnson likes to roger his women.

Time40 · 01/04/2022 10:40

Yes, it's due for a comeback. It's a great name.

theyhavenothingbuttheaudacity · 01/04/2022 10:41

Love a good booking
Not so keen on the name roger though

demoness · 01/04/2022 10:53

I really don't like it. It's old-fashioned in an unflattering way.

shinynewapple22 · 01/04/2022 11:06

I think it would be fine as a middle name in memory of a grandparent but agree with others about the negative connotations.

shinynewapple22 · 01/04/2022 11:07

@Joystir59

Or Simon!
I think that's a nice name .
HellToTheNope · 01/04/2022 11:07

Horrible name.

RuthW · 01/04/2022 12:24

This!
narcdad · 01/04/2022 12:51

Awful

HorribleHerstory · 01/04/2022 12:52

Roger the Cabin Boy (oo-er)

HorribleHerstory · 01/04/2022 12:53

See also; (rhymes with): todger

Cameliah · 01/04/2022 13:16

It’s a slang word for sex so no I wouldn’t name a child that.

ogorange · 01/04/2022 13:32

Oh no. No no.

Soffit · 01/04/2022 16:20

Spare a thought for BBC news presenter Roger Johnson who sometimes comes on at the Start of Andrew Marr/Sunday Politics Grin
