I would love your opinions on these two names.
George will be the middle name. What did you think ? x

I prefer Myles.

Matthew is solid but boring. Like porridge.

canyoubelievethat · 24/03/2022 11:58

Myles

OldTinHat · 24/03/2022 12:04

Matthew.

Lunificent · 24/03/2022 12:08

Matthew makes me think of those little boys at National Trust properties in sandals and socks, politely shouting, “Mummay, Mummay,, look at this whatever.” Very, very dull.
Myles/Miles is a bit private school: always at least one in each class.

RuthW · 24/03/2022 12:21

Myles. Matthew is old fashioned.

deadlanguage · 24/03/2022 12:25

I love Matthew! So underused nowadays. Matthias is nice too. I prefer the spelling Miles to Myles, and Milo to Miles.

ScarlettDarling · 24/03/2022 12:26

Matthew is lovely and Myles is awful!

Nelliephant1 · 24/03/2022 12:28

Definitely Matthew. Traditional is always a good shout. Myles sounds rather pretentious and there's loads of nicknames just waiting for him!

Mountainbear · 24/03/2022 12:31

Myles, although I prefer Miles as the spelling. On my list. Matthew is dull and feels quite dated to me.

AyeEee123 · 24/03/2022 12:38

Miles is much nicer and I love Milo.
Matthew is really dull.

MumsMetHer · 24/03/2022 12:44

Matthew.

Myles is having a bit of a moment and is therefore likely to date badly.

JofraArchersFastestBall · 24/03/2022 12:46

Matthew. Lovely, traditional, classless name. Miles is nowhere near as good.

Newuser82 · 24/03/2022 12:47

Miles definitely! I agree, I think Matthew is a little old fashioned now

clpsmum · 24/03/2022 12:48

Sorry but I think they are both quite boring

ancientgran · 24/03/2022 12:50

Matthew.

SageRosemary · 24/03/2022 13:01

I think both are lovely, though I prefer Matthew to be abbreviated to Matt. I know a family who have both a Matt and a Myles. Tall, blondish, strong athletic young men, definitely not boring, definitely not National Trust types and never went to private school

Uttoxerley · 24/03/2022 13:06

“ Matthew makes me think of those little boys at National Trust properties in sandals and socks, politely shouting, “Mummay, Mummay,, look at this whatever.” Very, very dull.”

😂😂😂

Saying that, I absolutely adore Matthew and far prefer it to Myles. Timeless classic.

Caramelcap · 24/03/2022 13:22

Definitely Myles - I think it's become cooler in recent years.

I think Matthew is a bit lame.

Whattodoniw · 24/03/2022 13:24

@HomecomingKween

I prefer Myles.

Matthew is solid but boring. Like porridge.

That's rude .

Matthew is a lovely name

Forshorttheycallmecomp · 24/03/2022 13:25

Matthew. Miles is like Isaac/Eva/Mabel/ivy - names that when I were tiny were very old people’s names, but now you can’t move for them. They’ve come back into fashion but will equally date. Watch out in about forty years time for Sharons to come back…

Matthew, like James or Thomas… could be any age. Matt works well. You know where you are with a Matthew.

HomecomingKween · 24/03/2022 13:27

Nothing rude about it. OP asked 'I would love your opinions on these two names.'

My opinion is that Matthew is solid but boring.

It would only be rude if said to an actual Matthew 'Oi, Matthew, your name is boring'.

pilates · 24/03/2022 13:30

Matthew

sorryforswearing · 24/03/2022 13:36

No competition. Myles is a lovely name although I might spell it Miles.

sleepyhoglet · 24/03/2022 13:37

Matthew

uncomfortablydumb53 · 24/03/2022 14:02

Myles, but I do prefer Miles
