Felix and Guy
Ideally, please say why too, thanks!
Feel free to mention others you think I may like

Felix because I believe it means happiness!

Happenchance · 20/03/2022 20:21

Felix. Neither are my taste but I dislike Guy as a name because the word guy is used too much in normal conversation.

Other suggestions:
Niles
Aneurin nn Nye
Simon nn Si
Silas
Cedric
Lucius

HellToTheNope · 20/03/2022 20:22

Felix, but only because Guy is so horrible. Not crazy about Felix, honestly.

Luredbyapomegranate · 20/03/2022 20:23

Guy - love it, underused, sparky, sounds contemporary but long and distinguished history

Felix - I weirdly hate it. Just find it prissy.

Rafe, Rufus, Patrick, Laurence, Jude, Joel, Saul, Jerome, John, Stellan, Struan, Lachlan might be others

MrsSkylerWhite · 20/03/2022 20:24

Felix

peggypogpeg · 20/03/2022 20:25

@Happenchance
Silas is INCREDIBLE. Great shout.

MrsSkylerWhite · 20/03/2022 20:26

(Guy is a late middle-aged salesman who gels his hair and tells himself he still “has it” as he looks into the Travelodge mirror 🥴)

Kite22 · 20/03/2022 20:32

Felix just says 'cat' to me. Don't like it at all.

Have to say not keen on Guy' either as "guys" is used for groups of people so much now.

MrsSkylerWhite · 20/03/2022 20:40

Kite22

Which is probably why I like it 😁

Lol! That's quite the image! I definitely get why this would put anyone off! I don't know anyone called Guy so to me it just seems pretty cool... I definitely worry about how much people say "guys" though. Also does anyone just hear it as a generic way of referring to a bloke (a noun, like calling someone "man"), or does everyone at least hear it as a name?

I do like Felix (and don't think I mind the cat association) but do worry about its popularity..

Guy. Guy Fawkes was a bit of a rebel and I just like the name. I don't like Felix much.
I love Raphael, Joel, Jonah, Sebastian.

Sexnotgender · 20/03/2022 20:44

I like Felix, it is quite popular though.

Happenchance · 20/03/2022 20:51

@dumptrucksandcranes it screams generic bloke to me. That guy over there. I've met a guy. I bought it from a guy in the pub. There's a guy taking a dump in the bushes etc.

Mumofgirls2017 · 20/03/2022 21:23

200% Felix

Sorry really don’t like Guy and think it’s dated

BeanStew22 · 20/03/2022 21:30

I find both names dated (I know a couple of both, both rather emasculated men)

I prefer @Luredbyapomegranate’s suggestions

whysoserious123 · 20/03/2022 21:33

Felix the cat
Guy Fawkes

Alternative
Sidney
Parker
Rory
Jaxson

canyoubelievethat · 20/03/2022 22:04

I prefer Felix

Synchrony · 20/03/2022 22:05

Guy. I know two and they are both fantastic men.

TokenGinger · 20/03/2022 22:34

Felix.

I find Guy a strange name.

Lilaclavenders · 20/03/2022 22:47

Guy - strong, classic and underused

I don't like Felix as it's a well known cat food

How about

Raphael
Quentin
Marcus

ukborn · 20/03/2022 23:26

Felix is ok, I know a lovely dog with that name. I know a Guy and I always smile a bit because I always refer to people (make snd female) as 'guys', so I'm always saying something silly like 'that guy Guy is coming by'.

KirstenBlest · 22/03/2022 18:51

Guy

ParanoidGynodroid · 23/03/2022 09:57

Really dislike Guy.

I do like Felix, but it's a cat food which spoils it a little for me.

oh interesting, I would have said Guy wears red jeans and a tweed jacket, played rugby for his boarding school and probably owns a black labrador or two. I prefer Felix by a long way.
