I love Peony for a girl, such an underused flower name.

What about you?

I would be put off by the prospect of shortening it to Pee!
I like Zinnia and Juniper though, underused botanical names.

NewtoHolland · 16/03/2022 15:36

My eldest daughter wants this for our youngest.
I love peonies, so beautiful..but for a name now because In my head it sounds like Pee on me.

I agree it’s too close to pee on me. Such a shame as it’s the most beautiful flower.

Violetandpurple · 16/03/2022 16:47

To me it just looks like Pony spelt wrong.

electricdreamm · 16/03/2022 16:55

I think it could cause some teasing at school as ultimately it starts with the sound "pee" and could even sound like "pee on knee" to other children.
There are other beautiful flower names you could use I'm sure x

toastofthetown · 16/03/2022 17:01

I have a huge soft spot for Peony. It probably works better in the middle spot though.

SittingOvation · 16/03/2022 17:01

I think it's lovely.

nzborn · 16/03/2022 17:17

Lovely

Blackbirdflyintothelight · 16/03/2022 17:18

I think it works better as a middle name than a first name.

autumngirlaki · 16/03/2022 17:24

i'm aware of the "pee" sound but though it wouldn't be such a big deal because Penelope is so common these days and ends in that sound. Maybe it makes a difference if it's at the end or beginning of a name? too bad, i think it's sweet. but i understand the problems that she could have with it :(

Pee on me

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 16/03/2022 17:43

One of the most beautiful flowers. Not a fan of the name though.

NewtoHolland · 16/03/2022 18:27

The thing is I think that the pee sound is combined with the on sound..which makes it an easy opportunity for bullying unfortunately.

Luredbyapomegranate · 16/03/2022 18:27

God no. The Pee association is just too strong and hilarious for primary kids (no Penelope is not the same).

It’s also kinda wet and little girly, although the flower is pretty. I would not want to be an adult called Peony.

Auntpodder · 16/03/2022 18:32

Please don't. However nice the flower is, it would be cruel.

Porfre · 16/03/2022 18:34

"The red peony "

Used as a euphemism for periods in a movie I just watched.

Porfre · 16/03/2022 18:34

Also peony sounds like-
Pee on i'

SeasonFinale · 16/03/2022 18:41

Yep She will always be asked to Pee On Me.

Roselilly36 · 16/03/2022 18:42

I like a lot of flower names, I love Azalea, Rose, camellia, Fern etc, but if I am being honest not keen on Peony.

Rosesareyellow · 16/03/2022 18:43

Looks pretty on paper. Sounds really naff when said out loud.

Frandler · 17/03/2022 08:16

I personally love it 👍 and if you do too, use it!

Another unusual 'P' flower name I've heard recently is Primrose which I really like. It can be shortened to Rose, Rosey etc but Primrose itself is quite unique ❤️

Krabby · 17/03/2022 08:18

I think it's pretty but in my experience kids always shorten their friends names rather than use the long version so she would be Pee at school. So I wouldn't use it for that reason.

KylieCharlene · 17/03/2022 08:18

Pee

Krabby · 17/03/2022 08:18

How about Calla - a type of Lily, I love that.
