I love Peony for a girl, such an underused flower name.

What about you?

No too much room for teasing.

Saltyquiche · 17/03/2022 08:32

Love it.

Botanica · 17/03/2022 08:34

Had to comment as I've had this on my list for nearly 20 years! Have always loved it. Elegant without being too flowery or cutesie.

Kids can find a way to make fun of any name, first name or surname so I wouldn't personally be put off by the comments about being shortened to Pee.

SnowdropFox · 17/03/2022 20:57

I really love it. Beautiful flower, easy enough to spell. Pair it with a more traditional middle name which they can use if they prefer as they grow.
I totally get the bullying angle but you can't assume it'll happen because of their name.

purpleme12 · 17/03/2022 21:09

No
Purely because of the 'pee' sound
It's nothing like Penelope. Your hardly notice the pee sound at the end of that whereas Peony has quite a pronounced 'pee' sound

HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 17/03/2022 21:21

How about:

Amaryllis
Dahlia
Marigold

FlamingoDust · 18/03/2022 10:58

Really like it

HeadPain · 18/03/2022 14:26

I think not

hazandduck · 19/03/2022 01:06

I love it! Kids will always find something to pick on about a person if they want to.

Another flower name I absolutely love (it’s also my favourite flower) and have only ever heard of one woman called this - Tulip. It’s just so pretty!

Nicoise · 19/03/2022 01:14

Peony? Seriously?

caringcarer · 19/03/2022 01:17

No because Pee on me. She would be tormented through primary school and grow to hate it. Lots of other flower names

Marigold
Rose
Pansy
Daisy
Primrose
Camellia
Dahlia
Lilly
Holly
Fern
Willow

demoness · 19/03/2022 10:22

It's very close to "pee on me". Unfortunately I think a child with this name would get tormented.

Bonabee · 19/03/2022 10:58

It's a lovely word but no for the child's sake.
Peony Floor
Peony Ice
Pissony

Sushiii · 19/03/2022 11:02

Awful. The poor child will probably also get called Penis in the playground.

Viviennemary · 19/03/2022 11:03

I don't dislike it. But wouldn't like the nickname pee.

tiredanddangerous · 19/03/2022 11:09

As others have said it would inevitably get shortened to pee. I wouldn't.

inheritancetrack · 19/03/2022 11:12

its lovely but risk getting called peepee

AHungryCaterpillar · 19/03/2022 11:19

Just don’t
