My friend has a dog called Scout.

Lucy doesn't sound spunky to me and Max on a girl is sort of odd.

Pippa is the first one that comes to mind when I hear spunky but I dislike it.

Exie. I worked with a woman named Exie, and it was her given name, not a nickname. She was in her late 50's when I knew her about 15 years ago. Lovely woman, and because she was so lovely I love her name.

Jupiter is nice it has an edge to it not Juniper.

I don't see Lucy as fiery or spirited.

Er, well I wouldn't say either of those names fit your criteria.

Max is a boy's name and Lucy doesn't sound particularly fiery or spirited to me.

What about Zara?

Max isn't a boys name, Maxine nn Max is super trendy

I prefer less frilly names for girls too, and so far my preferred are Frankie, Rowan, Stevie, Robin, Billie and Georgie.
