Venus, Story, Ember or Apricot?
I've narrowed my name list down to these.
I want something a little different to the top 20 names if possible.
Middle name would be Jean.
Which is your favourite in order please or what do you think?
Tysm for the help x

OP whilst I wouldn’t call mine those names, they do have very unusual names. I think names are very diverse these days. Certainly in the multicultural area I live, having a name white British people have to ask to know how to pronounce is more than half of my child’s school including African names, Japanese names, Iranian, Jewish, uncommon Irish names, names from books, names that are made up.

Basically mumsnwt is much more conservative than real life in my experience.

Andacherryonthetop · 11/03/2022 14:30

I actually love Ember. Could be Emmy for short too. I don’t like the others I’m afraid but do agree that Astoria for Story would work well

GeneParmesanPrivateEye · 11/03/2022 14:30

Coco Jean
Cora Jean
Eden Jean
Clover Jean
Cherry Jean
Juniper Jean

@Spaghetti0h

I am betting all you nasties are double my age or more? ☠😑

What - in this hugely ageist comment - is the skull and crossbones for?

And as a pp said, how old are YOU? (I am guessing 15 or 16, so yep, most of us will be double your age or more...)

@mangoontoast I'm 19.
Maybe people are the same age as me here, idk? I was just presuming because a few people were suggesting what I thought were older type names.

I don't mean to offend anyone though x

Coco is a good suggestion. I really like that.

Newsflash OP. Sometimes people don’t disagree with you because they are old or nasty but because your ideas are bad and it’s kinder to tell you. Especially when you’ve asked for opinions, anonymous opinions are generally more truthful.

No I'm 19.
I got upset because someone said I'm an idiot that's why I posted them.
I've already apologised for reacting.

I might be late to the party here but I love the name Everly and think it goes beautifully with Jean.

I also wish I had the guts to call my daughter Aurelia but was talked out of it.

HeardleFan · 11/03/2022 14:32

Pomegranate ?
Nickname pom

Spaghetti0h · 11/03/2022 14:34

@antisocialsocialclub I was responding to the person who called me an idiot & I over reacted. I've already apologised.
I don't think calling me an idiot was constructive of them though.

Alrightqueenie · 11/03/2022 14:34

Ember reminds me of dying embers in a fire.

Apricot looks like a bottom

All the kids will be saying it's Story time if you call her this

Venus = venus lady razors

Alternative floral names:
Jasmine
Zinnia
Azalea
Violet
Erica
Calla
Iris
Ivy
Amaryllis
Rose/Rosa

No you’re right calling you an idiot isn’t in. You can give honest feedback without being rude, you’re right OP.

loislovesstewie · 11/03/2022 14:35

@Laniania

Love Story and Ember, not keen on Venus (tough name for a teenager especially on a bad hair day!) Apricot - Ape - Cot - tough to make that one work.

People being rude about names like Miracle are just so culturally narrow -minded, I live in Nigeria and know people and friend's children called Miracle, Promise, Gracious, Noble - I think they're lovely. It's not silly just because it doesn't fall within your immediate frame of reference.

I understand that those names are common in some countries, but there are also perfectly normal names used in the English-speaking world which have the same meaning. I mean Aaron just means miraculous, Alistair, Albert and Adelaide all mean noble. So it's quite possible to give a child a name that means something without using the exact word. I mean at least the child doesn't have to be reminded constantly to be noble!
TheNonsensePotter · 11/03/2022 14:35

Apricot Jean is fantastic! Sounds like a character in a story.

Yes that's the word I should have used, conservative. Apologies again if I've upset anyone it wasn't my intention I'm not a rude or unkind person I just got upset being told I'm an idiot.

Call her Amber or Emma or Vivienne or Stella.

Fruitwise, go for Clementine or Mirabelle.

If you want nature, how about Willow, Poppy, Rosemary, Wren or Laurel.

margegunderson · 11/03/2022 14:36

They're words not names. FGS.

Ownedbymycats · 11/03/2022 14:36

I know a little boy called Storey after his mother's maiden name. It's lovely and is combined with something traditional like Jack and a very old Scottish surname.Im not keen on the other names to be honest.

Trethew · 11/03/2022 14:36

How about

Pluto
Saga
Ash
Prune

crimblecrumbles · 11/03/2022 14:36

I quite like Ember. Emmy for short or Emma if she prefers.
I'm sorry but I really don't like the others but I know it's personal preference but I do think she would find life hard with those names. Looking at a name on a CV would an employer take Apricot seriously?? Also...Venus... penis? Confused😂 that's what comes to my head!

If you like mythological names maybe:
Athena
Hera
Ariadne
Persephone
Penelope
Iris
Juno
Calliope
Freya

Unusual naturey :
Juniper
Willow
Amber
Wren
Aspen
Coral
Clementine

Xx

Aw, OP is only 19 - stop being mean you vipers!

OP - call the baby what you like - I did laugh at Apricot Jean but I'm really old - 40 - and definitely don't know what names are trendy any more! However I would always say try to imagine the name on a 20, 30, 40 yo. Can you imagine a 40 yo secretary called Apricot Jean? Or Story Jean?
