Girls name- classic but not “try hard”

Looking for inspiration! I am soooooo fussy about names and have read pages of threads here. I would a name that is classic, that most people would have heard of/ know how to spell, but is not popular. I reeeeally don’t like the current trend for very frilly/ over the top sounding names (sorry, just an opinion!)

I like:
Rosalind, Susannah, Alexandra (maybe a bit too popular), Juliet,

Dislike: Ottilie, Amelie, Freya, Ophelia, Verity, the whole Ada/Eva, Ivy Evelyn set etc

Margot, Clara etc becoming too popular

Don’t like too complex names like Arabella, Genevieve,

So if there is anyone left I haven’t offended would be great to hear your thoughts! 🙈

My daughter has one of the names on your first list. Honor is the one that got away for me Smile
I think it meets your criteria.

We chose our two girls’ names after a close study of the recent ONS charts.

Your criteria were exactly ours: classic, not try-hard, not too frilly, a ‘real’ name that everyone knows, but currently underused. I’m not going to tell you the names we went for, because I think the two together might ‘out’ me, but we’re really happy with them and they suit our girls.

There are some surprisingly classic names near the bottom of the charts!

@Cinnabomb

Eleanor/ Helen/ Ellen etc all very similar to close family member so they would be out.

I like Jocelyn, Phillipa

Really like Diana but is it useable? It’s such an iconic name I’m not sure anyone would think of anyone else other than Princess Di?

Sarah/ Rachel/ Clare/ Anna/ Laura all a little too much my generation. I was at school in the 90s and my class was filled with them!

Matilda/ Beatrice too popular for me (I know loads under 5!)

Deanne/deanna? Instead if Diana
