Matilda - always loved and love the nn options
Alice - love that it's timeless and suits all ages but unsure if I love it or just know it pleases people?
Maisie - it's very pretty and love that I could use May as a nn as that's a family name but using May as a first name doesn't match our surname

I know many feel Maisie is too cutesy but I personally don't get that vibe from it, especially with the different names around these days.

So which do you prefer?

Matilda - sounds like it's the one you like the most, so go with it :)

Hersetta427 · 03/03/2022 11:07

Alice for me.

Too many Matilda/ TIlly etc around. DH is a teacher and there is one in every class.

Rainbowqueeen · 03/03/2022 11:08

Matilda.

It’s the only one where you don’t say anything negative about it.

TeapotCollection · 03/03/2022 11:10

I vote Maisie, you don’t have to shorten it

Synchrony · 03/03/2022 11:14

Sounds like you want Matilda tbh.

Marcipex · 03/03/2022 11:17

I’m actually not keen on Tilly. There are soooo many everywhere, but no one seems to say Matilda.
The same goes for Maisie/Maisy/Maizie. There are so many.
Alice is okay. They mostly seem to call themselves Allie.
But out of your three I would choose Alice as the least dated/saturated.

Marcipex · 03/03/2022 11:19

Alice Matilda goes nicely and gives you a lot of options.

becca3210 · 03/03/2022 11:19

I like Matilda as a full name or Alice. Sorry agree with Maisie being cutesy but if it is your favourite go for it!

mistermagpie · 03/03/2022 11:22

I know four Maisie's (all little children) but I'm in Scotland where I think it's more popular. I don't like it, it's cute on a baby or small child but I would be embarrassed introducing myself at a work meeting in my 40s with that name. I've got a (slightly less cutesy) childish name myself and I don't like it either now I'm a proper adult.

I'd go with another option personally, Alice is lovely.

cheesychipsfan · 03/03/2022 11:23

Love all of them but if I had to choose I'd go with Alice ❤️

BlueFlavour · 03/03/2022 11:24

Alice.
Alice Matilda is lovely. Not keen on Tilly at all.

thisplaceisweird · 03/03/2022 11:25

I've never known a nice girl called Alice.

LindaEllen · 03/03/2022 11:35

I love Matilda, it's beautiful, and shortens wonderfully.

RavenclawsRoar · 03/03/2022 11:44

Matilda - I love it and i don't think it's massively over-used (I'm a teacher and really haven't taught that many of them).
Alice is a name I just have never liked. It's a very bland name, kind of wet-sounding.
Maisie is ok but not a patch on Matilda!

FayCarew · 03/03/2022 12:05

May as a nn for Maisie is a bit naff especially if it doesn't go with the surname. Maisie is ok but I know a ghastly one

Matilda is OK but overused, not keen on the nn

Alice is nice

Luredbyapomegranate · 03/03/2022 12:08

Matilda - punchy and elegant

Alice - nothing wrong with it, but bit dull

Maisie is cutsy and also slightly faddy/had it’s day. It’s short for Mary or Margaret originally, so if you do want to go with it I’d call Marianne or Marguerite as a full name.

Tsuni · 03/03/2022 12:15

I hate Matilda. It's just one of those names that sounds ugly to my ears.

Alice is better than Maisie. I'd go for Alice.

babyjellyfish · 03/03/2022 16:53

Alice by a country mile.

Matilda is nice.

Maisie is very insipid. Just May as a standalone name would be better.

helpmum2003 · 03/03/2022 16:57

I love Matilda or Alice.

I like Maisie but agree about the cuteness thing.

MagicMatilda · 03/03/2022 16:58

Matilda…my favourite name ever but we have 3 boys so haven’t been able to use it!

user1493494961 · 03/03/2022 17:58

Matilda or Alice, probably would go with Matilda, both lovely names.

Joolsin · 03/03/2022 18:00

Alice is awful.

Maisie and Matilda are both lovely, don't like May as a nn for Maisie though. I like Tilda as a shortening for Matilda.

elliesmummy19 · 03/03/2022 18:10

Matilda!

katielou987 · 03/03/2022 18:13

I love Alice.. it's a beautiful name, timeless and elegant x

ThatPosterIsSoRight · 03/03/2022 18:16

Matilda. With Matty for short.
