Which name do you prefer? Baby boy is Italian

Roman

Violetmo0n · 20/02/2022 19:56

Romeo

Hystericaluterus · 20/02/2022 19:57

I prefer Roman, though it isn’t an Italian name as I am sure you know.

NameChangeCity123 · 20/02/2022 20:00

Roman

Luredbyapomegranate · 20/02/2022 20:02

Neither honestly, there are far too many Romans, and Romeo would be a burden to live with.

Got any others?!

RedCandyApple · 20/02/2022 20:03

I use to like Roman but seems very popular now so wouldn’t use it (don’t like Romeo)

LostThePot · 20/02/2022 20:05

I like Roman.

It’s not popular around here so I guess it depends on where you are.

MondeoFan · 20/02/2022 20:05

Romeo

Roman is fast becoming popular and I work with children

RightOnTheEdge · 20/02/2022 20:05

I've only ever met one Roman who was Ukrainian. He was a bit of a dick but I still like the name.
So Roman.

AuntieStella · 20/02/2022 20:10

Roman if Eastern European or Russian

Romeo if you want Shakespearean

Snog · 20/02/2022 20:15

Romulus

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 20/02/2022 20:19

Honestly - and please just ignore if it's not helpful - but for me, neither.

Classica · 20/02/2022 20:22

Roman. The whole Romeo/lothario thing makes that name a bit much.

AdaColeman · 20/02/2022 20:27

Roman, I love it!

RedCandyApple · 20/02/2022 20:30

@LostThePot

I like Roman.

It’s not popular around here so I guess it depends on where you are.

It’s number 21 on the names list and was the highest climbing boys name of 2021.
StScholastica · 20/02/2022 23:11

I like them both (no help, sorry).

crabette · 20/02/2022 23:17

Roman makes me think of Roman Kemp?

And Romeo is lovely, but does have a bit of a lothario connotation!

How about Matteo? Or Rocco?

My favourite Italian boys name is Luca.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/02/2022 23:20

Roman is lovely, and a family name (Polish) so it's not new!

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 20/02/2022 23:49

Roman is Eastern European surely?

Not sure what the Italian version is

SueblueNZ · 21/02/2022 04:14

I know a Roman (ROman) who constantly has his name mispronounced as roMAN) so bear that in mind.
And Romeo? No, too lothario.

Kanaloa · 21/02/2022 04:22

Roman for me. Romeo just seems a bit ‘much’ to wear daily, it’s a bit over the top to me. But Roman feels a lot more wearable. It is getting a little bit more popular but that honestly wouldn’t bother me. It’s a lovely name.

Alrightqueenie · 21/02/2022 05:15

Neither as I find it a bit of a cliché Italian name, there are much more nicer Italian boys names out there.

merrymelodies · 21/02/2022 05:20

Roman Polanski

Riapia · 21/02/2022 05:23

Rosco ?

MinnieJackson · 21/02/2022 05:49

I really like Roman, I have a relative with the name, so don't automatically jump to Polanski.
