I love the name Miles and have for as long as I can remember, however I married a Moores..

Miles Moores? My initial reaction was no, no chance, I can't. But the more I think about it I think actually it's not that bad. It's starting to sound normal albeit a little quirky sounding.

Fully prepared to be told it's terrible and that I'm just desperate to use my favourite name. I'll blame the pregnancy hormones if so Grin

Sorry but I don’t think it works. A middle name is g really going to help - I don’t know the middle name of any of my friends/colleagues, people just don’t use them in every day life.

Buddhabowl · 20/02/2022 17:49

I quite like it. I knew a Gwillam Gwillam once. And there is David Davis. Miles Moores will be memorable! Do it OP!

HomeHomeInTheRange · 20/02/2022 17:52

It’s like a tongue twister.

Milo Moores is good though.

HomeHomeInTheRange · 20/02/2022 17:56

You missed a trick: Since you have always wanted to use that name you needed to get DH to change his surname to yours!

Or double barrel with your birth name?

Miles Smith-Moores, for e.g?

confuseddotcom1234 · 20/02/2022 18:03

Sounds like miles more, think the school days may be a challenge. Kids catch on quick there will be lots of jokes at his expense I think

bloominglovelyorange · 20/02/2022 18:09

I really like it. 99% of the time only the first name gets used anyway. Don't see a problem at all with the full name to be honest

sal1223 · 20/02/2022 18:15

Milo as pp said - sounds cool 😎

violetmonster · 20/02/2022 18:58

How about Miley Moore for a girl? I like that better

violetmonster · 20/02/2022 18:59

Unless you already know you're having a boy in which case that's useless advice Blush

Flibbertyjibberty · 20/02/2022 19:02

I like it!

Liv999 · 20/02/2022 19:05

No I wouldnt, the names just run into each other

AnnaSW1 · 20/02/2022 19:39

I think that would be mean!

Luredbyapomegranate · 20/02/2022 19:49

@nervousseacreature

Milo Moores?
This works Ok

Miles is a bit too much

Or Giles would be ok

Or give him your surname / double barrel it

Luredbyapomegranate · 20/02/2022 19:49

NO
Thedogscollar · 21/02/2022 14:55

No it just doesn't sound right at all.

NowEvenBetter · 21/02/2022 16:16

Give him the middle name ‘Of’ 😄
It doesn’t work, if both names didn’t have the same first and last letters it would.

RupertOscar1999 · 21/02/2022 18:49

One of my DD name is Oakley Oscar. It was a mouthful but loved the name so stuck with it!

We were also going to name our son August, but we decided August Oscar was to hard to say at once.

The name Miles Moores is adorable and with a good middle name it will be lovely!!
Miles Beckett Moores flows nice Smile

blameitonthecaffeine · 21/02/2022 23:30

It's quite hard to say - feels like hard work to get your mouth around somehow. I don't think breaking it up with a middle name helps - people just don't used middle names much, in general.

Agree that Milo Moores works a lot better.

DogsAndGin · 23/02/2022 14:58

You definitely can!

CakeRattleandRoll · 23/02/2022 16:51

He will appear on school lists as:

Moores Miles (aka Moore smiles Smile )

Which could be a good thing or bad thing.

I suppose you could always have Miles as the middle name. Doesn't stop you using it while he is young, but gives him options to change if he wants to when older.

tunainatin · 23/02/2022 17:01

How would it sound if you gave him double barreled surname with moored last?

MimiDaisy11 · 23/02/2022 17:39

I don't see anything wrong with it. I think it sounds fine. Sure there's alliteration but it's not an issue. I know a few people with names like that and I can't remember anyone making fun of it. Most of the time you just call people by their first name or in formal situations it will be Mr Moores.

I think a middle name won't do anything as it'd be a big effort to get people to call them by two names and you might not like those two names as much as just Miles anyway.

Awrite · 23/02/2022 17:45

I don't see anything wrong with it either.

I prefer the name Milo but actually think Miles goes better with Moores.

Jeelypieces20storeys · 24/02/2022 00:30

@NorthSouthcatlady

An acquaintance of mine called her son Max Power so l wouldn’t worry too much
Omg I know someone with a Max Power - surely can't be 2 of them!
urbanbuddha · 24/02/2022 02:20

No.
