Hi there
Would love love love input and help!
My second D was born last Thursday and my husband and I are getting no where with names. I like strong, masculine female names, he likes more traditional girly names.

My favourite names: Dillon, Sidney, Margot, Riley, Rafa. His favourite names Isabella, Emilia, Katherine

We had agreed on Frances, Robyn, Leonie and potentially Emilia, but we know a few Emmes already and that means that nickname is taken. Other names I liked Riley, River, Leila, Suki, Sylvie, Adeline, Leila, Lila, Orla, and Margot, but DH not keen on many of these.

I wanted something that could be strong and powerful, I’m an Alex and love having a unisex name, and added complication is that DD2 looks like my father in law and I feel she needs a strong name to pull off her strong features!

All help welcome, really need to decide and update people asap

Robyn and Frances are both gorgeous. Understated, strong, recognisable.

Robyn and Leonie both great.

(The people suggesting Sloane must be American as a) it's got negative connotations here to do with trying to appear posh country in the city and b) is an ugly combination of sounds. Slow moan? As surname/place names go it's one of the worst I've heard, though I know it's growing in popularity over there.)

Not keen on Frances but Robyn/Rory/Bobbie are all great

I know babies called Frances and Robyn - both really suit them. She will grow into whatever name you choose. Congratulations!

Ellmau · 16/02/2022 22:59

Rosalind and Miranda both have the same combination of strength and elegance that Alexandra does, imo.

Jocelyn and Rowan are strong unisex names.

Mara or Philippa might work.

Mallory?

sageandbasil · 16/02/2022 23:08

@CaliFrown maybe because Wren is an actual name and thrush is an infection? Weird comment

Both are birds, though you know that.

I love Frances
Robyn blends in with all the other Ro (Ronnie /Rory /Roman/ Reuben -style) names which are super trendy , all top 100 at the moment, so I wouldn't use that. All very different styles of names but it does get confusing and muddled when quite a few in the same class

Sunshinehouse · 18/02/2022 15:48

Thanks all for your input, lots of food for thought. Present favourites are still Frances, but also now considering Iris, Oriana and Madeline. Might have to put them in a hat to pick!
