Hi there
Would love love love input and help!
My second D was born last Thursday and my husband and I are getting no where with names. I like strong, masculine female names, he likes more traditional girly names.

My favourite names: Dillon, Sidney, Margot, Riley, Rafa. His favourite names Isabella, Emilia, Katherine

We had agreed on Frances, Robyn, Leonie and potentially Emilia, but we know a few Emmes already and that means that nickname is taken. Other names I liked Riley, River, Leila, Suki, Sylvie, Adeline, Leila, Lila, Orla, and Margot, but DH not keen on many of these.

I wanted something that could be strong and powerful, I’m an Alex and love having a unisex name, and added complication is that DD2 looks like my father in law and I feel she needs a strong name to pull off her strong features!

All help welcome, really need to decide and update people asap

Ah OP this is my dilemma too...I love more unisex names, and Robin, Rowan and Frankie are my absolute favourites for a girl, but DP hates them all and prefers a more feminine name.

Good luck with it. If she's semi-keen on Robyn I'd push for that, since you like it.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/02/2022 10:09

Robyn is great though, I’d go with that.

Penvelopey · 16/02/2022 10:09

Robyn is great. Robby as a baby if you like. But it's a great strong name as she grows.

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 16/02/2022 10:10

@Sunshinehouse I know a little Frankie (full name Francesca) and she’s absolutely adorable! I think they ‘grow into’ their names anyway, and it’s a really beautiful name ☺️ so I’m sure it will suit her, both as a baby/little girl and the more ‘grown up’ Frances when she’s an adult.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 16/02/2022 10:10

Robyn is a lovely name.

Others -

Blythe
Juno
Meg
Petra

Lilacsparkles · 16/02/2022 10:19

Robyn is great. But I like Margot too, Margot Isabella would be gorgeous!

WelliesWithHeels · 16/02/2022 10:19

Dulcie Isabella
Rory Belle

Fivebeanchilli · 16/02/2022 10:22

How about Rafaela /Rafaella with the nn Rafa?
I really dislike most of your names but I like Margot and Sylvie. Sylvie feels as though it could be a good compromise name?
Or what about
Tess
Harriet
Cara
Cassia
Freya
Nell

Dasher789 · 16/02/2022 10:23

Cameron was also what first sprung to mind.

Sloane
Jaime

BowerOfBramble · 16/02/2022 10:23

Love your suggestions @BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz

I was also going to say what about a Roberta (or even stick with Robyn) nickname Bobby/ie? I know one or two young Bobbies and it's a fab name. Also you can call her Bobby the Baby for now Grin

If you like Frankie I'd just go Frankie, you don't want to end up with a Fran you didn't want.

BowerOfBramble · 16/02/2022 10:24

Rory Gilmore (in the TV show) is short for Lorelai...

Leilala · 16/02/2022 10:30

Congratulations!

Love the name Margot.

You chose my DD name too Wink

How about;
Farah, Romily, Aimme (pronounced: em-ay), Delilah, isla, Iona, Briony, Tamsin

Good luck Grin

Bellex · 16/02/2022 10:31

Penelope with Nell or Penny as a nickname.
Meredith
Charlotte, Charlie for short
Daryl
Alba
Mila
Persephone, ‘Percy’
Lois

urrrgh46 · 16/02/2022 10:40

How about Roberta nn Bobby, Georgiana nn George or even Jaqueline nn Jack

urrrgh46 · 16/02/2022 10:40

Frances as middle name with any of them.

MojoJojo71 · 16/02/2022 10:51

How about Quinn?

Or maybe a ‘girly’ name with a more masculine shorter version?
Veronica ‘Ronnie’
Aurora ‘Rory’
Clementine ‘clem’

Luredbyapomegranate · 16/02/2022 11:29

Frances and Robin are both great, I'd go for one of them. Maybe Frances because you get the elegant full name and Frankie if you like a unisex nn. Robin I do prefer with the straight spelling.

Leonie (or Leonora) is also nice and gives you Leo.

Stick them in a hat?!

Keladrythesaviour · 16/02/2022 11:34

Georgina - George for unisex nickname but a feminine name over all?

KirstenBlest · 16/02/2022 12:26

@wineosaurus4

What about Cameron/Camryn? Or Blaire?

I also do really like Margot & Orla xx

May or Browne?
Crayzeefrog · 16/02/2022 12:28

Samia (nn Sam)

GinAndTopic · 16/02/2022 12:35

I'm like you I like strong names for girls. My daughter is Claudia, not many around, gets lots of compliments and I still love it (she's an adult now)

Prettybubblesintheair · 16/02/2022 12:38

Dd might look like fil now but most babies look like little old men so that will more than likely change! I love Robyn, Margot and orla.

popcorndiva · 16/02/2022 12:41

I like Blair for a girl or Henrietta

BowerOfBramble · 16/02/2022 12:46

@KirstenBlest oi I already made that joke Grin

Blue4YOU · 16/02/2022 12:47

Roberta (Robbie/Bob etc)
Robina if Robyn (which I love) is out
Ramona
Thea
Theodora
Astrid
Jaqueline (Jack/Jackie)
Isadora
Nell
Mary (go a bit rogue?)
Francine (if Frances doesn’t work)
I know they aren’t all either sex names but are strong sounding to me and not girly
