A sibling for Rocco.

I am unexpectedly pregnant, and last time we named my baby Rocco, which doesnt really”go” with my other children’s names, as they have quite classic/old fashioned names but he was supposed to be our last so we thought we would just go with it, he was our wild card! Smile

In my head I feel like the name has to flow with Rocco even though there are other sibling names I can see myself saying Rocco and “ ” a lot. Maybe something Italian, but not too Italian as I am about as Italian as a bag of chips!

Not sure on the sex as I think I would like a surprise this time (never managed to do that before).

So far I like:

Girls

Cosima
Marnie
Pandora (not brave or posh enough for this but I love it so much )
Petra

Boys

Cassius , nn Cass.
Romeo (I know! Bit Rocco and Romeo ❤️)

Any suggestions welcome 🙏

I know a Rocco and a Daisy.

UserBot9to5 · 09/02/2022 20:58

What about Margot, Cora, Ada, Flora, Stella.
Hugo, Victor, Vinnie, Gaïus, magnus
They are classic but go with Rocco.

Nico?

I say this as the owner of a cat called Rocco and his brother was called Nico 🙈 however Nico was a name I'd always loved for a boy but I never had a human boy to name it.

Lola

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/02/2022 23:13

The one I know of has a sister called Velvet

BlondeWidow · 09/02/2022 23:16

Please don't call your child Rocco! That's a dog's name Hmm

chickywoo · 09/02/2022 23:16

Agree with pp suggestion of Nico for a boy
And Lola or laila for a girl.

I would steer well clear of Italian names if you are not Italian. Especially as your other children have traditional English names. Romeo and Rocco is an awful combination.

Why don't you opt for an unusual English name like Axel if you want to keep in the same vein as Rocco.

Agreed. I find it really cringey when people name their kids from cultures and languages they have zero connection too.

I would usually agree but I think there are Italian names that you can only get away with using if you are Italian and there’s ones you can.

For example, I wouldn’t ever use Gino or carluccio or Paulo! But I would use Bruno Smile

And I don’t think you can get away with only using English names if you’re English, most names have a connection from another country. For example I have an Ivor which can be welsh or Scandinavian and a Tabitha which is Greek! But they still sound classic to my ear iykwim.

She has already done it, so this isn't a very kind post.

Names which to me are familiar, but also vaguely European/not 'British' are:

Claudia
Imelda
Marina
Rowena

August
Hector
Lucien
Sacha

I know a Rocco who has Zac as his sibling which I think work well together.

For a girl I think Indie and Zoe work.

CrunchTime22 · 10/02/2022 10:42

I don't have any suggestions, but I wouldn't choose one that ends in 'o'. When you're yelling it up the stairs it will get mixed up.

Foxglovesandlilacs86 · 10/02/2022 12:03

All names are dogs names these days Grin

Cassius is fabulous! It goes perfectly.

Girl's names, I love Marnie. How about Theodora (close to Pandora but less bold), Angelica, Tabitha, Nina, Ramona, Rosa, Joy?
