Camilla or Cosima?

I love both so much, but just can’t decide!

Nicknames Mila or Cosy.

My only concern is Cosima is a bit less known so may have pronunciation issues.

I prefer Camilla, it makes a softer sound than Cosima. It's a very pretty name. Pity about the Parker Bowles association, but never mind there are probably better Camillas out there!

Pemba · 29/01/2022 16:02

Also, Cosy? Are you sure about that? As in this room is warm and cosy etc?

MissBattleaxe · 29/01/2022 16:04

Nigellas daughter is called Cosima and I think her nickname is Coco

runningoutofnewnames · 29/01/2022 16:05

Camilla NN Mila is lovely.

runningoutofnewnames · 29/01/2022 16:05

Cosima is nice also!

toastofthetown · 29/01/2022 16:10

I love both. They are different names though. Cosima is much more unusual and you’d probably have many more comments (including some negative ones). Camilla is much more usual though still not too popular. If I used Camilla I’d make sure that I was ok with both Cam and Milly, as there’s no guarantee that Mila will stick.

Hellodaahling · 29/01/2022 16:24

Yes “cosy” like warm and cosy. I think it’s so cute.

I don’t mind cam or Millie, though Millie has become so overused due to the rise of Amelia/Emilia/Emily and Amélie so I much prefer Mila or Mimi over Millie.

Are you vair posh OP? Grin

Blubells · 29/01/2022 16:36

I really like Cosima. So pretty and interesting/memorable!

Camilla is ok but Millie is overused and dull imo.

Mum5net · 29/01/2022 16:39

Minnie would be the way I would shorten Cosima

Ceramide · 29/01/2022 16:39

I prefer Camilla.

Cosima is to much like a Zimmer frame. Cosima = Co Zimmer.

Fivebeanchilli · 29/01/2022 16:40

I love Camilla. It was on my list but I'd have used the nn Callie or Calla.
I'm not keen on Cosima.

StopForAMinute · 29/01/2022 16:41

I prefer Camilla. Very pretty name.

FelicityBob · 29/01/2022 16:43

Cosima reminds me of swimming cossie
Not keen on Camilla. Do you mean Mila pronouncer milla or meela? Because I wouldn’t shorten camilla to “meela”

TitoMojito · 29/01/2022 16:44

@Ceramide

I prefer Camilla.

Cosima is to much like a Zimmer frame. Cosima = Co Zimmer.

The only Cosima I know of is pronounced "Co-seema"
DamsonJammyBastard · 29/01/2022 16:46

I think Nigella's daughter is known as Mimi.

I prefer Cosima of the two as Camilla is too Parker Bowles for me.

Hellodaahling · 29/01/2022 16:48

I would pronounce Cosima as Cosz-eema

A mixture of s and z sound

Yes I would like the mee-la pronunciation for Mila

I would pronounce Cosima as Cosz-eema

So would most people.

I've never heard it as Co Zimmer ConfusedHmm

SeanChailleach · 29/01/2022 16:52

They're both gorgeous. Cosima makes me think of Cosmos which would be okay as a nn. Camilla would also get Cami.

FelicityBob · 29/01/2022 16:53

Just call her Mila

DamsonJammyBastard · 29/01/2022 16:55

If someone pronounces zimmer as zimmah I can see where they're coming from. I wouldn't pronounce the name as co-zee-ma, more like coz-immah.

BiscuitLover3678 · 29/01/2022 17:45

Cosima makes me think of cozzy as in ‘swimming cozzy’ but I like that it’s different. I prefer the sound of Camilla.

Blubells · 29/01/2022 17:52

If someone pronounces zimmer as zimmah GrinShock

Blubells · 29/01/2022 17:52

Cosima is beautiful

Hellodaahling · 29/01/2022 17:54

Thank you for all the comments. It seems that Camilla is more of a crowd pleaser, though I know sometimes it can also be pronounced as cam-meel-la. Camilla PB connection doesn’t bother me. Cosima may be a bit too out there…though I do adore it
