Disaster - I need a new girl's name!

The name I had tucked away as my favourite for 2nd DD has been flagrantly stolen by my cousin, so now I can't use it!

(I'm just kidding, it's not a disaster, and you can't "steal" a name, I know!)

DD is Orla, and something with an Irish feel would be lovely, due to family background. Also want to avoid a "sh" sound due to surname, and no "n"s for the same reason.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

Caitlin or Tara are lovely.

SageRosemary · 15/01/2022 15:57

If you like Dara, then you might like Darina/Dáiríne or Doireann
Cara, Ciara
Fiona
Una is beautiful, stick with U if DD1 has O first initial

I'd go with Maeve or Niamh

TheDuchessOfMN · 15/01/2022 16:15

I’m going to make a final plea for the “Méabh” spelling… Grin

People seem to be able to pronounce Niamh. Nobody spells it ‘Neeve ‘

As you were… Blush

GlassRaven · 15/01/2022 16:17

Lara

Meabh (Maeve)

This name means “intoxicating.” In the Irish legend, Meabh was the warrior queen of Connacht.

Captainrachy · 15/01/2022 16:58

I have a Méabh and am in Ireland and you would be surprised how many people struggle to pronounce it here. Me-ab is a popular mispronunciation Hmm

C152 · 15/01/2022 17:22

I always liked Niamh

CharlieBoo · 15/01/2022 17:50

Niamh

theremustonlybeone · 15/01/2022 18:01

Mhairi( scottish but think it fits)
Caitriona
Clodagh
Aoife ( i love this )

100problems · 15/01/2022 18:31

Love Tara.

My lovely Irish friend is Cora, which I think is extremely elegant but may clash too much with DD1.

Journeylikenomother · 15/01/2022 18:56

Clodagh is pronounced kloh - dah

Ellmau · 15/01/2022 18:58

Ciara or Maeve

itssquidstella · 15/01/2022 19:09

I know of sister (pre-school age) called Orla and Maeve. I think it's a lovely pairing!

Luredbyapomegranate · 15/01/2022 19:31

Oona

Due a revival.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 15/01/2022 19:44

I have a cousin called Bebhinn (fada over the e) pronounced Bay-veen

Went to school with a girl called Caolan - pronounced Kee-lin

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caolán

Laoibhise - Lee-sha is another one but would be a total ballache in the U.K.

Ashling works well in the U.K. but I know you said no sh sounds

Muireann Mwr-en is a favourite of mine
