What's everyone's thoughts on Felicity?

Both me and my husband really like it but there is something holding us back and we don't really know what!

GreenLowe · 12/01/2022 14:30

It's a beautiful name. I love it.

APurpleSquirrel · 12/01/2022 14:30

A friend has a DD called Felicity (6m), nn Fliss - it's lovely.

Snowiscold · 12/01/2022 14:32

I like it, but I’m not keen on the common short forms of Fliss or Flick.

Bluebluemoon39 · 12/01/2022 14:32

Felicity was quite common in the 80's (in posher circles!) and was often shortened to Flick. It's a lovely name.

WeWashEverythingExceptLaundry · 12/01/2022 14:35

I expect you'll get people saying it's horsey and posh.

I like it, a lot - lovely name with lovely meaning, straightforward to spell, very much a 'suits all ages' name. I think it's getting increasingly popular, if that bothers you, though don't reckon it will ever be on the Olivia/Lily/Isla scale.

Justcantdeal · 12/01/2022 14:35

It always reminds me of a very posh 65 year old woman, sorry.

DotDotDotDotDot · 12/01/2022 14:39

I think Felicity is a lovely name. You probably know but it means “good fortune, happiness”.

LavenderRosemary · 12/01/2022 14:40

Lovely name.

merrymelodies · 12/01/2022 14:44

Felicity is a gorgeous name!

Orchidflower1 · 12/01/2022 14:45

It’s lovely. I really like.

DuneFan · 12/01/2022 14:47

I like it but like lots of the virtue names it could be hard to live up to.

I knew one who abbreviated to "Fizz". (She was indeed posh)

Borracha · 12/01/2022 14:48

I love it and really wanted it for DD but DH wasn’t keen. I think it’s a lovely combination of pretty, strong and elegant and it has a lovely meaning.

DoodleBelle · 12/01/2022 14:52

Lovely name

toastofthetown · 12/01/2022 15:04

It's ok. I know what you mean with something holding you back on it. It's a name I feel l should like more than I do and sometimes I feel warmer to it than others. But it's not a name I love and I can't put my finger on why. Maybe a bit too hissy/prissy/twee? All the nicknames are dreadful as well.

Roselilly36 · 12/01/2022 15:07

Gorgeous, my favourite girls name, lovely meaning to. If I had had a girl I would have chosen this name. But no, two gorgeous boys for me 😂

strawberrymilk7 · 12/01/2022 15:11

I like it. There was one in circle in secondary school. I don't recall us having any nn for her

PanettoneMoly · 12/01/2022 15:19

I’m a Felicity! Absolutely not posh, I’m from the north east and went to my local comp. Often autocorrects to Facility or, in one memorable occasion while signing off a work email on my phone, Delicious Blush

css04 · 12/01/2022 15:21

Thanks everyone! I know it's not to everyone's taste but I think it's a lovely and underused name!

We would probably shorten to Fliss.

If anyone has any good suggestions for a middle name too? X

For middle names I'd avoid Rose and Grace. They are the most common middle names given and are totally bland to me as a result. Here are some but unless you are going with a family name, then it probably makes as much sense to choose from a list of other names you and your husband like. Adelaide Clara Diana Gaia Maude Minerva Winter
DisforDarkChocolate · 12/01/2022 15:28

I think its beautiful.

popcorndiva · 12/01/2022 15:36

I have a DD (5m) Felicity, we have only had positive things said about it.

DreamReverie · 12/01/2022 16:07

I love Felicity and love nicknames Fliss and Lissy. I have hard time thinking of middle name. Maybe
Felicity Bridget
Felicity Anne
Felicity Beatrice
Felicity Helena
Felicity Matilda

Chakraleaf · 12/01/2022 16:22

Love it ;)

ISmellBurnings · 12/01/2022 16:23

Love it! Not common either which is nice.

Middle names avoid the filler names of Rose/Grace/May which all girls have at the moment and are overused.

Felicity Kate
Felicity Joy
Felicity Hope
Felicity Scarlett
Felicity Rachel

“Delicious” - brilliant!

I really like Felicity. Do you have to have a middle name? Not everyone does.
