Ivy was on the list as one of my top baby girl names. I picked out Margaret for the middle name, baby girl is due this week. Any thoughts on what you think of this name?

Is Margaret a family name or just something you liked?

AndyPritchard69 · 09/01/2022 20:31

I'm not keen

It sounds a bit too 'old lady' to my ears

Iris is nicer imo

Spidey66 · 09/01/2022 20:34

Ivy is a cute name. I'm not so keen on Margaret but it's fine and the whole name has a nice ring.

episcomama · 09/01/2022 20:35

1950s charwoman.

LivingOnAnIsland · 09/01/2022 20:35

Love it!

episcomama · 09/01/2022 20:36

As my granny (a proud one herself) would have said

Ringergodgers · 09/01/2022 20:36

It is very old lady..and the initials spell imp

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 09/01/2022 20:37

Ivy is lovely and I have a teenage Margaret who loves her name.

Lou98x · 09/01/2022 20:37

I think it’s lovely! Adorable and timeless x

LettertoHermoine · 09/01/2022 20:38

Aging, decaying theatre actress.

Peakypolly · 09/01/2022 20:39

Imp would be such a sweet nickname as well Smile

Tal45 · 09/01/2022 20:40

I don't like Ivy or Margaret I'm afraid.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 09/01/2022 20:41

I think it's lovely

iklboo · 09/01/2022 20:42

1950s PA for a top Chief Exec. Very capable respected, knows what she wants and does NOT suffer fools gladly. Probably even have been Bletchley material.

lottiegarbanzo · 09/01/2022 20:43

Old lady but not in a chic way, sorry.

I'd choose something softer and less, as pp said, 1950s charlady than Ivy, especially to balance out Margaret, which is fine as a middle name but it's quite harsh, consonant-y sounding.

MondeoFan · 09/01/2022 20:44

I like it. Pritchard is my mother's maiden name. It's quite an unusual surname. My Gran was Edith Florence Pritchard.

Ohyesiam · 09/01/2022 20:57

I like it, sounds like a character in a good book

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/01/2022 21:03

I love it! Very Miss Marple!

Ivy is super popular though - does that bother you?
Margaret is on the rise but only just.

Ancientdreams · 09/01/2022 21:04

Too old-fashioned. I don’t like Ivy or Margaret individually either.

Frazzled2207 · 09/01/2022 21:06

I like both Ivy and especially Margaret but I wouldn’t put them together tbh because they’re both quite old fashioned, even though Ivy is quite popular these days.

Lily Margaret/Evie Margaret or similar perhaps?

Floralnomad · 09/01/2022 21:08

If you like it then that’s what matters but to my ears it’s the name of a 75yr old .

ImmediatelyNo · 09/01/2022 21:10

IMP

Comedycook · 09/01/2022 21:13

I think it sounds like an author

ISmellBurnings · 09/01/2022 21:13

I don’t like either.
