When I was little I always planned to call a future daughter Rosalind, Posie for short. Thoughts?

Not a fan.

Marimaur · 06/01/2022 13:02

Very sweet.

MissNothing1991 · 06/01/2022 13:04

I don't really see how Posie comes from Rosalind to be honest.

thickthighs73 · 06/01/2022 13:06

Posie sounds like a nickname for your fanny lol

Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep · 06/01/2022 13:06

I call my DD pudding, it has nothing to do with her given name either. Hence it being a nn.

Op I think posie is a lovely name for a child and Rosalind a beautiful name to grow into

Ifonlyidknownthen · 06/01/2022 13:06

First thing that came to mind was ring a ring of roses...not keen on the name and can't see the connection between the name and nn

SallyWD · 06/01/2022 13:06

It's a bit too cutesy for me. Rosalind is nice with Rosie as a NN

KirstenBlest · 06/01/2022 13:06

Rosalind is lovely. Posie is not. Posy is a better spelling.

thevassal · 06/01/2022 13:07

Agree with missnothing - they are two completely different names. Surely the short form of Rosamund is Rosie, not Posie? If you like Posie just call her that.

ChrissyPlummer · 06/01/2022 13:08

Reminds me of The Flumps and ‘Ballet Shoes’. I would think most people would use ‘Rosie’ or ‘Roz’ from Rosalind.

MrsMoastyToasty · 06/01/2022 13:08

No. I'm reminded of the 70's children's programme The Flumps. Posie Flump was one of the characters.

ArabellaScott · 06/01/2022 13:09

Posie is lovely, as is Rosamund. And Rosie for that matter.

Georgeskitchen · 06/01/2022 13:11

Go with your heart
Rosalind is a nice name , and not widely used. Don't hear of many Rosalinds. As for Posie for short, fine if you like it.
I used to look after a very old lady called Sarah. Nobody ever called her that, she was known as Nellie!! No idea how Sarah turns into Nellie 🤣🤣

The Flumps! lol Thank you was trying to think of where I’d heard it
Pemba · 06/01/2022 13:22

It's pretty but very 'little girl'. But I suppose as you are planning to use it for a little girl, that's fine! She can always choose to drop it as a nickname when she gets older.

Love Rosalind, classic and classy. PPs are saying 'no connection', but I see it - Rosalind - Rosie - Posie.

realhousewifeofmodor · 06/01/2022 13:26

It's very twee- sorry.

Sadie is the pet name for Sarah, normally. Nellie is the pet name for Helen. Maybe Helen was her middle name ?
SirVixofVixHall · 06/01/2022 13:29

But anyway, I love Rosalind, and Posie v sweet.

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 06/01/2022 13:35

No way. Posy looks like Nosy, Posie is much better
toastofthetown · 06/01/2022 13:45

I really like it. Posy is a sweet name, but Rosalind is also lovely if she wants something more serious sounding. While I love Rosalind, personally I wouldn't use it because I dislike the nickname Ros/Roz. While you might not choose it, she might choose it herself later.

HunterGatherer · 06/01/2022 13:48

Rosalind is lovely.
Sorry but I dont like Posie at all. I associate it more with Instagram posing, than a small bunch of flowers though.

Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep · 06/01/2022 13:55

I keep muttering this to myself now. Not sure if it's helpful (because it backs up the nn claim) or unhelpful because it's not a very nice little girl....

Rosie Posie pudding and pie
Kissed the boys and made them cry
When the boys began to cry
Rosie Posie runs away.

It's the girl version of Georgy porgy.

Sorry!

Pemba · 06/01/2022 14:10

Did you just make that up though? 🙂

Dingdong99 · 06/01/2022 14:21

Not for me

Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep · 06/01/2022 14:42
