So underused and actually very pretty don't you think?

Lovely

35andThriving · 27/12/2021 08:25

It's a brilliant, underrated name. I've never met one in real life.

MoominMeggy · 27/12/2021 08:26

I like it - you may also like Iris, Cerys and Carys

BlueFlavour · 27/12/2021 08:27

Really like Lois.

namechangeagain32 · 27/12/2021 08:28

I like the English pronunciation but the Welsh one isn't pleasant, so it would depend on that for me.

BellsaRinging · 27/12/2021 08:33

I love it too! Only slightly marred for me by books I loved as a child where she was the anti-hero!

LozMarieFielder · 27/12/2021 08:56

Love it! I met a Lois and had to tell her how much I adored her name. She was quite taken aback.

Luredbyapomegranate · 27/12/2021 08:56

Yes, it’s great. Totally underused.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 27/12/2021 08:59

I know 2 Loises, I like it. I didn't know it was Welsh

BettyfromBristol · 27/12/2021 09:00

I know two, both are very lovely girls who suit their beautiful name.

LoveGrooveDanceParty · 27/12/2021 09:02

One of my dear friends called her DD Lois, and I have to admit it, I don’t love it.

It’s almost just a bunch of letters to me (yes, I know, every name is)…

toastofthetown · 27/12/2021 09:03

It's fine, not thrilling or wonderful to me but not bad either.Less popular now than it was 15 years ago for some reason.

Seafog · 27/12/2021 09:04

It was my Nan's name, I love it

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 27/12/2021 09:10

I know a few; they are all lovely so I like it as a result 😂

What's the Welsh pronunciation?
namechangeagain32 · 27/12/2021 09:23

@ofwarren rather than "low-iss" you pronounce the "oi" like you do in oink, or "oi you over there!" So Lois becomes a one syllable name, and not a pretty one at that! Kind of reminds me of louse, but uglier!

Ceramide · 27/12/2021 09:25

It has a very solemn sound to me.

MajorCarolDanvers · 27/12/2021 09:28

I like it

SummaLuvin · 27/12/2021 09:29

I actually find it quite an ugly sounding name, but appear to be in the minority here.

MONSTERSALAD · 27/12/2021 09:30

Loathe it, but that's because one of the nastiest people I've ever met is called Lois.

Also, I wants to pronounce it like 'noise', just because it amuses me to do so.

I wants to pronounce it

I've gone all West Country

OrangeAndYellowAndBlue · 27/12/2021 09:48

I love it. Names ending -is are so nice.

17caterpillars1mouse · 27/12/2021 10:12

I want to like it but I think of the woman in family guy and I hate that show plus one of the 'mean girls' at school was called Lois so that puts me off a bit too

scandikate · 27/12/2021 10:25

I actually know 2 under 5s. It's not my favourite name but they suit it well and it's definitely under used.

cherrypie66 · 27/12/2021 10:28

Really nice
