What’s everyone thoughts on Marlow or Monty for our boy born 4 days ago? We’ve had awful trouble deciding on a name and it’s taken us this long to find a common ground on two.
His older sister is called mabelle. It wasn’t intentional to have them both with an M name it seems M names are what we like 🙈

I really like them both so that's no help Grin was just excited someone else was awake

WhoUsedMyName · 24/12/2021 02:19

Mabelle & Marlow
Mabelle & Monty

KloppsTeeth · 24/12/2021 02:47

I prefer Marlow out of the two.

DramaAlpaca · 24/12/2021 02:50

I think of Marlow as a girls' name, usually spelled Marlowe.

Monty is better, I suppose.

IAmSantaOhYesIAm · 24/12/2021 02:59

Monty out of the two….
Not that you asked for suggestions but
Matthew
Marcus
Maxwell

Rainbowqueeen · 24/12/2021 04:07

I prefer Monty. I also see Marlow as a girls name.

Rodion · 24/12/2021 04:16

Monty

Kanaloa · 24/12/2021 04:19

I would say Monty too! The only Marlowe I’ve met was a little girl although I know it can be a boy name too.

Ceramide · 24/12/2021 07:45

I don't like Monty so prefer Marlow.

Martin (Marty)
Arlo
Barnaby
Lomax
Roman
Walter (Walt)
Toby

I prefer Marlow but tbh it reminds me of marshmallow. Or Marlon (Brando)

KirstenBlest · 24/12/2021 08:22

Of the two, Monty.
Marlow is very nice - as a town, but as a name seems a bit 'we likrd Arlo, but wanted matchy-matchy names so we chose Marlow'

ofwarren · 24/12/2021 08:30

Monty is the best of the 2.
I would have Montgomery or Montague on the birth certificate though.

Freddie456 · 24/12/2021 08:44

Monty. I know a little boy called Monty and he’s lovely and his name suits him really well.

Ikeameatballs · 24/12/2021 08:47

Monty

PearlHart · 24/12/2021 08:49

Monty is the best name for a boy/man. Marlow is a town.

AuntieStella · 24/12/2021 08:51

Marlowe is the playwright/poet and I've only ever known it on a boy (and I really don't take to surname names in girls)

Monty seems a bit too much of a nickname to stand alone, but I like the long forms

Double3xposure · 24/12/2021 09:03

Monty is good if you are posh and it’s short for a Montague.

Otherwise Milo

SummaLuvin · 24/12/2021 09:18

Montgomery, Monty for short. Very distinguished.

Otherwise Milo

Posh? Cringe.
GAW19 · 24/12/2021 09:23

My dog is called Monty Grin

KirstenBlest · 24/12/2021 09:26

There was a Monty in the Births announcements in Saturday's Daily Telegraph. Not short for anything

Luckingfovely · 24/12/2021 11:44

Monty is brilliant!

Marlow-on-Thames?

Hello606 · 24/12/2021 12:56

I like Marlow, but Monty is a dogs name

Luredbyapomegranate · 24/12/2021 16:05

Could you do Montgomery nn Monty? That's rather lovely.

Not so keen on Marlow, and I think it's often a girls name??

SummaLuvin · 24/12/2021 16:17

@Hello606

I like Marlow, but Monty is a dogs name
Dog comments show up on this forum quite often and I find them quite bemusing. I know dogs called Robert, Miriam, Ruby, Millie, and Digby. Unless someone is thinking of calling their child Spot or Bones then your personal associations with canines are irrelevant to the OP.
