Thoughts on Rue?

Translates from French to English as 'road'...

It's a word that means to feel regret or sorrow.

No, means regret.

It has a pretty sound I like the floral aspect but I can't get past the fact Rue is synonym for regret.

Makes me think of the little one that gets bumped off in the Hunger Games.

Nope. It means regret.

Quite nice and pretty.

However, I would want to know is how is is received in French-language countries - pretty sure Rue means road there, so not rude but travel is important to me so I would avoid any names they are likely to be silly in other countries/languages, especially language as common as French.

I also strongly associate it with the Hunger Games character, I loved that book when I was younger, but as Rue is quite a tragic character it would put me off.

It would make me think of Roo (as in Kanga and Roo) from Winnie the Pooh!

Rue is also a plant, otherwise known as herb-of-grace. I think it would be a lovely, unusual name!

I was also going to suggest Romily. It’s a lovely name.

I know a Roux. It's a lovely sounding, pretty name but written down I just think of butter and flour.
I also know a Ruby who's known as Roo. I like this better I think (although I occasionally think of Kanga..)
