Is it traditional? Classic? Timeless? Or Trendy? Fashionable? Popular? I really like it, Josh day to day and it's currently front runner for our February baby but would like to gather opinions please.

I think it’s a lovely classic name. Everyone knows how to spell it, perfect.

NumberTrain · 17/12/2021 07:10

Beautiful name. Classic, strong, versatile. I wanted it for DS but DH has poor associations from school Sad

finallychangedmyusername · 17/12/2021 07:14

One of my all-time favourite boy names. I love Joshua and Josh as a nickname.

MustStopSnacking28 · 17/12/2021 07:14

Love!!

Dollywilde · 17/12/2021 07:15

I love it but it’s the name of my long term ex boyfriend before DH so I think everyone would think I’d lost my marbles if I used it Grin

Bananarama21 · 17/12/2021 07:18

Beautiful name ds2 is Joshua, we changed it last minute as we're going to use max so glad we did

GrumpyLivesInMyHouseNow · 17/12/2021 07:33

I think it's a lovely name

KirstenBlest · 17/12/2021 11:44

It's fine but it had a surge of popularity in the 1990s

Much nicer than some of the OT names like Noah

Buddhabowl · 17/12/2021 14:29

I see it as quite classic. I like it and like Josh/Joshy.

SirChenjins · 17/12/2021 14:32

I love it - it's not too popular (around here, anyway) and it's a strong, classic name.

OrangeAndYellowAndBlue · 17/12/2021 15:34

Love it!

I think it probably has a peak in the 90s/00s, but the peak wasn't so sudden that it would feel dated now, if you see what I mean. It's traditional enough to ride out trends a bit.

justaddcandlelight · 17/12/2021 15:36

Great choice. One of my all time favourite people is a Joshua.

daisypond · 17/12/2021 15:38

I think it’s a bit dated. It’s very early-mid-90s, and the Joshuas I know are having their own children now. I don’t think that style of Old Testament boy name is very classic either. But it’s fine.

Seriouslymole · 17/12/2021 15:41

How can OT not be classic? It's not exactly modern!

wingsofabird · 17/12/2021 18:05

I love it. A great choice. Familiar but not overused. I know 1 Joshua under the age of 5 and none others.

Kite22 · 17/12/2021 18:20

Lovely name
Easy to spell / only one way to spell it...... Everyone will know how to say it if they see it written down...... Although it was very popular mid 90s, I think it is fairly timeless - not dated like some names seem to be.
I don't think it is being used much at the moment, which is a plus in my eyes.

AuntieStella · 17/12/2021 18:23

Lovely!

alexdgr8 · 17/12/2021 18:27

a good solid classic name. timeless.
go for it.

Mammyloveswine · 17/12/2021 18:48

It's a lovely name!

wingingit33 · 18/12/2021 14:26

Oh yay!! What brilliant responses thank you Grin

wingingit33 · 06/01/2022 15:00

Ok now I'm backtracking... is it too dated?

SheWoreYellow · 06/01/2022 15:04

It’s still pretty popular, so I don’t think it’s dated.

I like it.

timoteigirl · 06/01/2022 22:07

Sorry I don't like it as to me it is just too Biblical, and so common that it is boring. But if you love it, go for it!

ImNotWhoYouThinkIam · 06/01/2022 22:13

I love it, but I've got one so I would!

It was most definitely not on my short list when I was pregnant because my Nanas dog was called Josh
Then he was born and it was so obviously his name!

Buytoomuchonebay · 06/01/2022 22:33

I have a josh-I’ve just got off the phone to him
I call him j rather than josh/Joshua
It’s a lovely name which is timeless
His full name is Joshua Benjamin which only comes out when he’s in trouble!
