I'm worried it's too out there but I love it for my little boy and really struggling to find anything else we love!

I assume it's a Hebrew name, so don't want to diss it too much in case it's a pretty common name in Jewish circles and the name of many much loved dads, brothers etc. But the only Elon I've heard of is Elon Musk and I dislike him so very very very much that it's a big fat no from me.

Leon is fab.

Echoing PP that I immediately thought Elon Musk, and that's not great. However, Musk is a fairly recent celebrity and his fame may die out before too long and memories of him fade (no guarantee of this). Also, while I don't get the impression he is the greatest human, I don't think he had done anything truly awful like massacres or war crimes. I think if you love the name enough it is something you/your child can overcome (inital raised eyebrows then people will move on) not like calling your child Adolf.

Sonically Elon, Elton, Leon... aren't my favourites, quite like Elyon for a girl though.

It has to many associations with that bonkers man sadly, which is a shame as its a lovely name.

I agree that Leon is a good substitute. I also came across any Eray recently - pronounced Er-aye which I liked.

Elon Musk is a genius, who has Asperger's, comes from a sexist culture and has a difficult father. Consequently he has struggled with keeping intimate connections in his personal life. Can't deny the guy is a genius though! He's changing the world.
