Any thoughts? I can't think of any that go. Ideas I've toyed with:
Josephine
Matilda
Genevieve
Eliza
But don't seem quite right.

(If you don't like Mercy, please don't tell me 🥺 I just want middle name ideas. Please be kind!)

Bit of a mix but it might spark a thought in a particular direction!

Twizbe · 13/12/2021 13:02

Elizabeth really comes to mind.

Runningandhungry · 13/12/2021 13:09

I LOVE Mercy!! What about

Olive
Beth
Joy
Astrid
Ava
Evangeline

SummerHouse · 13/12/2021 13:09

It's a strong and unusual name. I love it. I would maybe let it breath with something simple:
Jane
May
Grace

user1493222657 · 13/12/2021 13:12

Naomi or Ruth?

FakeFruitShoot · 13/12/2021 13:13

Personally I'd avoid anything else sort of morality related so Grace, Felicity, even Joy or Charity tbh.

I would go for a middle namey name like Rose, Jane or Louise, but I like middle namey names! I just think it's a statement enough on its own so keeping middle name simple will work really nicely.

whatausername · 13/12/2021 13:14

It's a gorgeous, strong name so I'd avoid pairing it with a filler middle name. (Grace, May, Rae)
Some of my suggestions are very popular names tbf but I think they are more popular as first names rather than filler middle names. I quite liked OP's suggestion of Matilda.

Piggy42 · 13/12/2021 13:15

I like Elizabeth as a middle name.

lemonandthyme · 13/12/2021 13:16

I think Mercy Josephine is beautiful

WhatScratch · 13/12/2021 13:21

I like the way that Eliza flows with it. I think that names with three syllables that end in an ‘a’ sound work well with Mercy. Just based on sound:

Mercy Aaliyah
Mercy Amara
Mercy Louisa
Mercy Lucia
Mercy Khadija
Mercy Rebecca
Mercy Amelia
Mercy Sofia

scottishnames · 13/12/2021 15:52

Agree with OP (Matilda, Jospehine) and previous posters that a three-syllable (or more) name would sound good.
Several of these have been suggested already: Elizabeth, Christina, Rebecca, Susannah, Jemima, Louisa, Diana, Franciska, Cecilia, Rosalind, Rosamund, Clarissa, Tabitha....
Retro names could also be good: Mercy Amanda, Mercy Deborah, Mercy Lilian, Mercy Cynthia...

Mercy Honoria (re your previous post) sounds good, but you might not want two virtue names.

WeasilyPleased · 13/12/2021 22:38

Mercy Evangeline was the first name to pop into my head. BYW Mercy is beautiful.

WeasilyPleased · 13/12/2021 22:40

Sorry BTW. By the way. No idea what BYW stands for!

Zarene · 13/12/2021 22:43

I know a fab Mercy, great name.

I think it deserves a strong middle name - Elizabeth would be perfect.

Not Mercy Grace unless you're very, very Catholic!

Luredbyapomegranate · 13/12/2021 23:58

Something simple like Mercy Elizabeth, Frances, Katharine

Or if that’s too dull for you then classic like Julia, Francesca, Antonia, Cecilia

You want to avoid the excessively religious eg evangeline or Grace, and you want to give her a less strong favour of a middle name so she has an option if Mercy isn’t for her.

Bonnealle · 14/12/2021 00:20

I think it depends on your surname? Mercy Anne is nice. Mercy Matilda sounds a bit like Waltzing Matilda. I think it’s such an unusual name, I’d not heard if it before, but my flatmate used to watch Hollyoaks and I remember someone was called that name. Are you northern? It’s not heard of at all from where I’m from, nice to have an unusual name.

Skinnytailedsquirrel · 14/12/2021 00:24

me

OneLlamaOpenSleigh · 14/12/2021 00:31

Another vote for Elizabeth here

Enough4me · 14/12/2021 00:34

Another vote for
Mercy Elizabeth

Mercy Josephine is also nice, but for some reason it's making me think of a song.

londonmummy1966 · 14/12/2021 00:52

Either one syllable eg Mercy Jane. Mery Rose or three+ eg Mercy ELizabeth, Mercy Alexandra, Mercy Katherine etc

waltzingparrot · 14/12/2021 01:11

Mercy Elizabeth
Mercy Mathilde
Mercy Mae

SkiingIsHeaven · 14/12/2021 01:17

Beaucoup

youvegottenminuteslynn · 14/12/2021 01:17

I feel like one syllable is the way to go for a middle name with Mercy. Maybe:

Jane
Beth
Ruth
Anne
Maeve
Wren
June
Bea
Maude

Kanaloa · 14/12/2021 01:19

Mercy Eliza and Mercy Josephine would be my favourites! I think Mercy Josephine would be cute because you could sometimes call her Mercy Jo/MJ for a nickname. One of mine has a middle name that shortens like that and we use them together sometimes. Don’t want to use the name but say she’s called Hannah Mabel so we call her Hannah May type of thing.
