Libatius for a Boy

Pronounced Lye-Bay-Shus.

Came across the character Libatius Borage while re-reading Harry Potter and thought Libatius is actually a lovely name. Wondering what MN thought of it? I had a look on darkgreener and it isn’t in any use. Bit out there? Or a charming name that deserves more attention?

Piss head or labia. None are good connotations.

Constantine is lovely. As is Valentine. Libatious is daft.

Looking for a non pretentious name but considering Libatius?? I'm not sure Constantine is any more pretentious and at least it's a real name. Will forever remind me of the head contract killer from killing eve though. Fwiw I too saw Labia as soon as I read the title

I've taught a Greek Constantinos known as Con. I like it! But only if known by the nickname.

Libatious doesn't work well at all as no nicknames possible really.

BurnedToast · 13/12/2021 04:17

It sounds like a skin infection. Awful.

Mollymalone123 · 13/12/2021 06:20

No way-it sounds like a form of libation-drinking alcohol-

Ceramide · 13/12/2021 08:18

I'm trying to think of something which is shorter but has any similarities to Libatious.

Doesn't work too well if you have a significant number of French speakers in the class, though.
qpmz · 13/12/2021 13:17

Just call him Dave or something.

cafedesreves · 13/12/2021 18:25

@NeverDropYourMoonCup Im a French teacher 😂

Luredbyapomegranate · 13/12/2021 23:54

Lysander? Augustus?

Classica · 14/12/2021 00:01

I'd assume he was given the name as a joke by his boozy parents.

MindTheGapMoveAlong · 14/12/2021 00:34

Libatius …And his sister Chlamydia?

Peakypolly · 14/12/2021 00:42

I was at school with twins called Constantine and Constanza. They were not at all pretentious.
